Nice exhibits, friendly staff and clean. Underground parking was a plus with all the traffic the weekend we were there. Enjoyed the IMAX movie and the children's craft. Step out on the 2nd floor terrace and watch the paddle boats and Segway tours down the canal walk.

The front entrance was under construction, so it took a little away from the exterior view. I was here with a private party and we walked around to the canal entrance and the walk was beautiful. Once inside I took advantage of the time while others ate I walked unimpeded through the whole museum. There is a lot to see... More

What a wonderful surprise. This is a gorgeous building, very carefully planned to reflect all of Indiana. It has a sculpture for every one of the 92 counties in Indiana around the outside, all attached to, what else, Indiana limestone. A plaque explaining a few characteristics of each county is at eye level, though many of the sculptures are way... More

The museum is in a nice location and probably quite interesting to those who like museums. I am not a museum person and tend to like those that have extras like the Milwaukee Public Museum. Well, this museum was boring for me and at least one of my kids. There is a lot to see though, so if you are... More

Core museum does a nice interactive job of telling the history of Indiana; also has a series of neat changing exhibits that I try to get to frequently. Add the IMAX Theater and special events and you can always find a good day's worth of activity at the State Museum.

Just a great museum with good exhibits presented impartially. Watch for special events, such as the Asian festival every spring. Worth a visit.

This museum was a blast! However, they were renovating a lot of their displays as well as the front of the building. The steam clock was also on the fritz. A lot of repairs needed to be done but overall it was a great experience!

The photo you see here of the canal, was inspired by my dad Dick Dube' who was the developer of the area planning, and who was responsible for the USS Indianapolis memorial that was placed here. This is a historical area, renovated with a beautiful slow flowing canal where they have kayak races annually. Great views from the luxury condos... More

Interesting exhibits -- convenient location on the canal. Hands on stations that allow kids to learn about fossils and informative staff who are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge. Very similar to other museums.

My family went for a special exhibit, but were surprised with how nice and interesting the rest of the (permanent) exhibits were. There is a big diversity of things covered and it had my kids asking lots of questions. Some of the displays (like the presence of the KKK in the history of Indiana) lead to some pretty deep discussions... More
