Friendly staff and several different sections. Enjoyed the current exhibit about their 200 celebration. Takes one to two hours depending on how through you want to be.

This is a nice museum for Indiana history. Be sure to visit the Ayres Tea Room for lunch. This Tea room used to be in a Department store called Ayres long ago. They made a replica of it at the State Museum. They still have lunches that were made back then. (like the monte cristo and clown ice cream cone)... More

Although I grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, I had no idea about half the things at the museum. The geology exhibit was amazing - Indiana starting from the creation of the earth through the present day, which explained why different parts of the state have different features. Great exhibits of limestone quarrying, pioneer lifestyles, farming, you name it. We... More

A cool mix of state history and natural science. There is a huge mix of interest for the scientist or historian in you. A good rainy day activity for kids. It is in a good location.

The first floor has a large selection of fossils but is poorly lit. The upper floors cover history in a variety of ways. Overall, kids can learn a lot here. So did this museum buff.

There is quite a variety of exhibits, and with Indiana's 200 year anniversary, they had some fun cultural treasures to explore. My children had mixed reviews about the place, thinking some areas were boring, but they did like the Natural History section. They also liked building up the big foam blocks in the entry area and jumping into them. The... More

The museum was first rate. Across the street from nearly all the hotels and also accessible from the Canal walk. There is a natural history area as well as nice displays about the history of Indiana and the part it played in the Nation's history. Well done displays, easy to access and see. There is also an IMAX theatre within... More

A very interesting museum filled with Indiana history. It is a great spot for locals and visitors to visit and enjoy. We love to go at Christmas and see Santa and ride the train. The displays are intriguing and many of the exhibits have fun interactive part for everyone to enjoy.

This is a very interesting and thorough museum of the history of the state of Indiana. It starts at the beginning: over 100 million years ago. Exhibits then work their way to the present day. The special exhibits right now are celebrating Indiana's bicentennial with 200 works of art (paintings, sculpture, etc) from Indiana and 200 artifacts that help tell... More

The second floor history of Indiana and its people really put time and local culture in perspective. The museum restaurant was awesome! The creative menu was refreshing and affordable!
