IRT is now requiring proof of vaccination or negative test- even for children ages 4-11. What a shame that masks aren’t enough. Their play ‘A Christmas Carol’has always been such a blessing to our family. They are offering performances for vaccinated folks only. Perhaps they could offer some for the unvaccinated as well.

Took 12-yo granddaughter to see Christmas Carol. We sat close to stage and could see very well. She was totally enthralled with acting, singing and choreography. Planning to return in Feb to see The Watsons.

We really enjoyed watching A Christmas Carol! I ordered my tickets later than I should have, and thought we would have bad seats. Even though we were toward the very back of the theater, we had wonderful seats. This is the perfect mix of a smaller theater--but with some great lighting, acting and effects. I have seen bigger shows in larger theaters--but I would rank this one higher than some downtown Chicago productions. (Not quite NYC Broadway level--but still an awesome show.)

The performers were wonderful--extremely professional--and I will be going back for sure. After our show, the audience was given free sugar cookies and tea or hot chocolate and had the chance to meet several of the actors. (My son loved this.) I am sure this not typically offered, but we enjoyed it.

I also want to note, the prices on snacks and drinks are very reasonable. We ordered two hot teas, one water and two cookies for the show. Our bill was only $8! WOW!

This will for sure be a highlight of our holiday season--and I am looking forward to returning to see other shows! I am only sad I didn't know about this place sooner.

Surprised my husband on his birthday and took him to this theatre, first time for both of us, not only was it a surprise for him, but for me as well. We were very impressed, nice building, beautiful in side, great show.

It's beautiful and a great place to see theatre. There really aren't any bad seats. I recommend a Christmas carol. It's our family tradition to see it every year. There are some really nice performances and always at least one or two shows per year suitable for children. It's downtown Indy, so you can get valet parking for about 10.00 or you can park at circle center for a reasonable rate and short walk. I recommend IRT for a nice night out.

Took our 7 year old granddaughter to see "A Midsummer Night's Dream" evening performance and she was enthralled--not to mention hooked on Shakespeare and attending live plays! We all throughly enjoyed the performance and the beauty of this historic building. We, also, had great front row seats! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the dust. There was a thick, visible layer of dust on the stage, showing the foot prints of every actor, and a great cloud of dust eveytime the curtain was touched in any way. We live in a 160 year old house that is certainly not dust free...but this great cloud of dust everywhere kicked up our granddaughter's asthma and allergies. Nothing that was not controlled with a puff from an inhaler and an antihistamine...but beware if you are greatly allergic to dust. Perhaps a good cleaning is in order?

I love this theater/s. We have seen shows on both stages and even the large stage feels very accessible, like you're in a small theater. I have been seeing shows here since I was a young kid and until recently the family had season tickets. I have to admit that the shows are sometimes hit or miss. The shows that have been good have been great. Shows that I have thought about days, weeks, or even years later. And they definitely outnumber the ones that haven't been as good. The architecture of the building is spectacularly ornate. If you see a show here, come early. Take some time to walk around and get a good view of the place.

We went to this theatre to see A Christmas Carol during the holiday season. This is a cozy theatre with exceptional local talent. Given the size, all the seats are good! My ten-year old daughter had a wonderful time and wants to come back next year! Added bonus: before the play, they had carolers in the lobby dressed up in period clothes!

Have seen several productions at IRT. No bad seats, but suggest the balcony. Most recently saw their production of "A Christmas Carol", and can safely say it is the best I have seen. A 90-min, non-intermission performance. Fast-paced storytelling, with inventive sets and a truly spooky Ghost of Christmas Future. As a Concierge for the JW Marriott, I have no qualms about recommending the IRT to my guests.

I saw a performance about Helen Keller in the last year or so at the IRT and it was wonderful. My friend and I were in the balcony and could hear and see everything very well. I look forward to returning for another performance in the near future!
