Was not aware of this museum prior to visiting Fort Wayne. A very interesting and well done place. Great even if you are not into fire fighting history. A lot there about the history of Fort Wayne as well. Well organized and it really covers all the changes in technology, techniques, etc. A few fire vehicles there were actually built by fire fighters of Fort Wayne. Check out the "hose" area - they used to hand hoses in order to dry them. Well worth the cost and young kids should like it as well.

The city of Fort Wayne is fortunate that this historical fire station was preserved. Touring it, we got a sense of what the life of firefighter was like in the past. Antique fire fighting equipment, from different eras, are on display and perfectly restored. Children will love this museum, as will anyone with an interest in fire fighting.

My daughter and I enjoyed learning the history of fire fighting in Fort Wayne. $4 for adults, $3 for seniors.

We visited the museum on 8/19. Admission is only $4/Adult! They have several older fire engines, along with a large variety of fire fighting gear used over the years. The most interesting thing we saw was the hose tower, where they hang the hoses to dry. We stayed about 45 minutes, that is plenty of time to walk the entire museum and view the exhibits. Worth your time and your money!

We spent about 2 hours here with our Grandsons (ages 6-14). We were all very impressed with the large collection of Fire-Fighter memorabilia as well as the display and the short guided tour provided by the attendant.

We visited with kids ages 2, 4, and 6. The museum was very fun for me, but not my two younger kids. The curator was very knowledgeable and really good with the kids, but the youngest just wanted to climb everything. There was a good fire safety video we watched upstairs in the theater area, and the kids were given Sparky coloring books as we left. There are four or five videos throughout the building that you can watch to learn more. If you want to spend time looking at things, don’t take a toddler. 😉

This is one of my favorite places in the Fort. Lots of things to see for anyone but this is a must see for any first responder.

My husband and I were in the city and had an hour to kill so we decided to stop in here for a quick diversion - wow! We ended up staying for a couple of hours and actually enjoyed this museum much more than the History Center. The Fort Wayne Firefighters Museum was a great mix of the history of engineering, public safety, the integration of technology in safety, Fort Wayne and the people who risked their lives to keep it safe. Until recently, Fire Station #3 was an active fire house, and I am so happy that they turned it into a museum to show fire fighting through the last couple of centuries.

Our favorite parts were the room full of communication technology, the transportation through the centuries, and the photos upstairs.
