Travelling through Ferdinand, Indiana, one can not miss the impressive redbrick buildings that overlook the town. The Monastery Immaculate Conception is a complex of enormous church, convent, and grounds. Tours are available; the outside shrines can also be visited. One could easily spend the better part of a day here. Allow at least an hour to visit the church.

Beautiful church and monastery! Spiritually uplifting! Our tour with the Benedicitne Nuns was informative and filled with historical references. We thoroughly enjoyed the artwork, the statues, and the environment itself!

Just happened upon this beautiful place by accident. Decided to go inside and so happy that we did. The monastery dates back to 1867. There are wonderful women there who are so happy to tell you about the history of the Abbey. The grounds are beautiful and such an inspiration. The cemetery was interesting, peaceful and serene.
There is a gift shop on site as well with wonderful cookies. They also have a brewery with the most delicious pretzels and craft beer. Well worth the visit. fun, spiritual and interesting

Amazing buildings and grounds. Architecture is cool and there is much to see if you just look look look - so many nuances. And don't miss the "clay" model inside.

Beautiful building and grounds!! We arrived on the Alumni weekend which was good and bad. We could not do an official tour but did meet so many wonderful women who told us about the history of the school and the institution that is the Monastery Immaculate Conception!
We went to Mass on Sunday. BEAUTIFUL church, meaningful sermon, and lovely music.
We spoke to one of the sisters who told us about the history of the Abbey. Then we walked around the lovely grounds. Fabulous breezes as we walked the perimeter of the building!! Loads of shade on a HOT sunny day. Calming grounds...
This abbey is beautiful, inspirational, and also fun. The sisters’ have a great sense of humor that you will see on display at their Brewery... What better souvenir for my husband than a bottle of the monastery’s beer? Their gift shop sells pretzels, cookies, and so much more. THE BUTTERMINT COOKIES WITH CHOCOLATE ARE BETTER THAN GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!!
I would like to go back one more time for the official tour and/or mass if it was a Sunday. Wonderful ladies and good cause. Support the sisters and give yourself a gift at the same time.

We had the delight of having Sister Jane Ann as our guide to show us around. She's humorous as well as very knowledgeable. There is a very interesting history here and the facility itself is just beautiful.
If you find yourself in this area and looking for something to do...I would highly suggest that you check this out!

+JMJ+ Everyone is welcome; you don't have to be Catholic to enjoy and beauty and architecture of this 150 yr. old + place! They are very welcoming, as is the Benedictine tradition. You can experience the Church, the grounds, the gift shop, and the pub/restaurant. Take time out to unwind and relax; maybe even do a retreat or attend an event here someday.

We were in the area so we decided to stop and visit the Monastery. No tours we available when we were there so we visited the church which is beautiful, I could sit in there for quite awhile praying and thinking about life.

It's hard to believe that this huge and very beautiful monastery is located in a small town in southern Indiana. It's worth the time to take the free tour and learn about the order and their history. The chapel is quite impressive.
