My husband and I love to bike on the Monon. Lots of places to enter and exit the trail. Lots of shops and restaurants to stop at. In the summer our favorite stop is the Carmel farmers market.

The Monon Trail is an exceptional linear park. Enjoy a walk or bike ride from Indianapolis to Westfield. There are great stops in Broad Ripple, over the White River, Nora, and Carmel.

This is a 20+ mile path that runs from downtown Indianapolis to Carmel. Lots of restaurants and bars within a 1/4 mile of the paved trail. Can get a little crowded on weekends and cross traffic doesn’t have to stop

Felt safe waking alone. Walked about a mile north of downtown Carmel. Parking lots available if nothing on street is available. Some construction going south. A treasure for Indy travelers and residents.

Such fun to walk, jog, bike or people-watch. Always relaxing to eat at any of the adjacent restaurants. Just love it!

If every city had a fabulous walk like this, we would be a healthier population. Dogs, bikes, kids, seniors. It's a great walking trail. I walked 6 miles through Broad Ripple and beyond. Day 2 I walked to SoBro 3 miles and it was just...More

This trail is gorgeous and tree covered. There will continue to be pain as a Carmel goes through lots of construction along the trail, but it is the best place to bike!

Safe, convenient bike and pedestrian trail that runs thru Carmel and connects with surrounding cities. Restaurants are on trail with bike racks. Great activity for family or solo.

Definitely!! Please be respectful of others and bring your doggie bags. There are dispensers along the trail where you can dispose them. Enjoy!

How close is Monon Trail (5 Replies)
Hey, I'm staying at the Indianapolis East Marriott in a couple of weeks. How close is the Monon Trail to the hotel? Thanks

You may want to consider just walking over to the canal area in D.T. there are walking paths there and much closer to your location. Just look it up on google maps.

Biking in Indianapolis & Other Parts??? (6 Replies)
We are looking at coming for a long weekend, possibly Memorial Day, to bike in Indianapolis. Right now, we are considering heading first to Muncie for the Cardinal Greenway trail. Maybe doing the Monon trail in Indianapolis. Can anyone provide input on the best bike trails for road/hybrid bikes in Indiana (we like to ride 20 to 30 miles each day) -- preferably paved routes and your thoughts on Muncie. And any suggestions on where to stay in Indianapolis that would allow us to walk to bars...More

I don't know anything about biking trails, but I do know that the hotels in Indianapolis are going to be awfully busy on Memorial Weekend. We have a little race here called the Indy 500 on the Sunday before Memorial Day. You might want to consider a different date for your visit if you're not coming to town to see the race.
