This was my first kayak tour so I really didn't know what to expect. And I have to say that it turned out to be a really great first time experience! The weather tried to be threatening but we managed to avoid getting wet. David is a very knowledgeable birder and pointed out the different ones that he would see. I highly recommend going on a tour with him.

Our family of four (including an 11 year old and a 14 year old) went on a private kayak tour at Lake Monroe. (We met David at the Pine Grove State Recreation Area.) It was an amazing experience! David was easy to communicate with and provided everything needed (including binoculars)- we just had to show up. The cost was very reasonable. We did not have previous kayaking experience- David gave us a quick lesson and we were ready to go- even our 11 year old had no problems with it. We saw many birds, including a roseate spoonbill that we were hoping to see, an eagle, herons, egrets and indigo buntings, kingfishers and many others. We also saw deer and beavers. David was extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk with. He answered all of our questions and provided a lot of interesting information. My son and husband are much more into birds than my daughter and me- but we all loved the tour. If you are a birder, this is a fantastic experience. However, even if you are not a birder but just enjoy spending time in nature, you will love this tour. Our family is planning to do it again and also to take tours of other areas in Indiana with David. Just go- you will not regret it!

David took us on a birding tour around Yellowwood State Forest. He has a great ear for bird calls, which definitely upped the amount of birds we were able to spot. We saw a number of species our group had not seen previously. David provided binoculars and a spotting scope, and had a field guide and app with bird songs to help clarify the birds being seen or heard. During the tour, David was friendly, attentive to everyone's comfort, happy to answer questions and very forthcoming with insights into the species observed. Setting up the tour was simple and the price was very reasonable. David responded quickly to emails and designed a tour to accommodate the physical limitations of one member of our party. He even provided suggestions on sites to visit independently near the location where we were staying. After our tour, David followed up with a list of all the birds we'd seen and additional information about a question we'd asked on the tour. If we're in the area again, we would definitely consider taking another tour with David. I think anyone who appreciates being out in the natural world would enjoy one of these tours and getting the benefit of David's expertise.

My husband and I booked a private tour to Goose Pond to see the simultaneous migration of the lesser sandhill cranes, speckle belly geese, and snow geese this past weekend. We could not have been more please with both David's demeanor and his knowledge of birds and their locations in the area. I cannot recommend David and his tours enough!
