About
Sitting in Chicago’s affluent Winnetka suburb is a Georgian-style red-brick house, more famously known as the ‘Home Alone House’. Built in the 1920s, the house served as the main set of the iconic 1990 holiday movie. It draws many eager fans, hoping to snap a picture or reenact their favorite scenes in front of the house. It's located in a residential neighborhood though, so it's best not to linger for too long. Visit the Home Alone House plus filming sites for other iconic movies like 'The Breakfast Club' and 'The Break-Up' on a movie sites tour of the Chicago suburbs. – Tripadvisor

We live in the area and it’s always fun to drive or walk by and reminisce. Worth a quick pass! The current owners don’t seem like such sticklers about a quick photo as other owners have been. Just be courteous as it is someone’s residence and the neighborhood wants to have some semblance of normalcy.

It was nice went last year ! Should be going soon this year. There were other people there taking pictures too so I didn’t feel uncomfortable taking photos into front of someone’s house . If you love the movie and don’t live to far it’s definitely worth going .

This is a privately owned home so we didn't want to bug the owners. We went on a whim on a December night, and the kids were delighted. Took a quick Kevin McAllister selfie and jumped back in the car. There's really no legal place to park out front so act fast. Not worth a special trip, but if you're in the area, why not.

Our son is a huge Home Alone fan. The location of the house happened to be on the way to our next destination so we decided to stop. Street was pretty quiet so we did not stay long but decided to take a quick picture! We had one excited kiddo asking if Kevin’s house was really real 😂

A great stop. Security car was parked on street. Not sure if he is there all the time or just because it was Christmas. Easy to find. We parked at end of street and walked up. Great photo ops. The neighbors homes are actually the neighbors depicted in the movie too. They were not photo shopped in. Be sure to visit the church also while in the area.

When I’m Chicago for Christmas you can’t not go see the home alone house!
We got the train up to Winnekta, arrived in The prettiest most picture perfect area.
Short stroll from the train station. Exactly as the films, though slightly smaller than imagined.
Carried on walking to Lloyd beach nearby and admired the other houses in the area.

So worth a quick trip from Chicago if you are a Home Alone fan. It was being remodeled a few years ago but thankfully now the home is fully visable. It not an attraction so you can go on the property but still pretty cool just to stop for a minute to get a view & snap a couple pics.

I have a confession to make.

I've been struggling A LOT financially recently, so I decided to get a summer job to pay extra bills. I am now delivering pizza for a local outfit called ‘Little Nero’s’!

In fact, this house is the first one I’m delivering to! It’s to some guy named Johnny. He was a little rude on the phone, but let’s see how it goes!

We were over from the UK and staying with friends a couple of streets away, so we had to do the drive by, but stopped for a photo. It’s nice to see for sure, but it must try the owners and neighbours patience having nosey Parker’s like me outside, all day, every day. I gather the owners only bought the house relatively recently, so I guess they knew what they were in for!

It's the number one spot to visit when you are in Winnetka, according to my cousin, then the beach.

We stopped by here after our afternoon tea in winnetka at the deer path inn. This was my husband's one spot to visit while we were here.

It's a nice walking neighborhood. No two houses look alike here either.
