Memphis was one of the ancient capitals of Egypt. Today there is little left of it other than stumps of columns poking up from untended fields. Our tour guide told us that the Egyptian government is attempting to reclaim the site from people who have...More

There is not a lot remaining of the ancient capital of Egypt, but it is still worth combining a visit with a visit to Dahshur, Saqqara or both. Highlights are the huge statue of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. Entry is 80 Egyptian pounds...More

Non-obligatory visit, but included, entry 80 LE, I made this trip: Giza, Saqqara, Memphis for 40 dlls. Small place, neglected, very poor, the only impressive thing was the statue of Ramses II They do not charge for taking pictures

This place also does not require much time. Nothing of the grandeur of an ancient capital remains except for some granite and alabaster statues. They are worth a look especially the colossal Ramses 2 statue.

After seeing so many excelent sites, the old capital of Memphis has nothing to show. Only a laying colossal statue of a pharao and little more. Better spend the time somewhere else.
