Because we were traveling from Atlanta to Benton, IL and would arrive late, we made reservations on line for camping in Wayne Fitzgerrel State Park. We picked a site near the restroom (we both get up at night). When we arrived the sign on the restroom said only open on weekends. We made an appeal with the campsite hostess to... More

This area of Rend Lake is our favorite to camp at. Nice clean campground with a lot of nice level large campsites. Lots of shady campsites and spots by the water. The bike trails and shelters are nice also. Only drawbacks are no full hookups, can't walk up to any of the reservable sites even though they're empty for days... More

We took our 2 sons camping her for the weekend. We loved riding the bike trails but I will say I like the trails at South and North Sandusky campgrounds better as those are paved and these were gravel. However, along our bike rides we saw multitudes of deer and turkey. My boys got such a kick out of it.... More

Saw a wild turkey, red fox and many species of birds. Facilities were well kept and looked to be very adequate for campers, hikers, picnic and fishing

We were looking for an easy less then an hour hike on our way north from shawnee national forest and decided to try Rend Lake. We found a loop bike trail just past the office off of the entrance from route 154. This was before noon . beautiful easy walk through the trees. We heard a Crack and we're blessed... More

We launched our boat by the resort...docks were plenty but I did not like the hard plastic trim along the docks...my fault for not using my bumpers but that hard white plastic with a few good waves left huge marks on the bow....and the lake ( Rend ) is disgusting...clay bottom...only 3-9 feet deep in most places...getting out of the... This is a great place to camp. I do wish they would maintain the bathroom facilities a little better. The hand dryers were not working and there were no paper towels or soap in either of the bath houses near our site. They do have some incredible sites next to the waters edge.

Stopped here for one night and wished it could have been longer. Most spots are 30 amp but there are some 50 amp. Our spot was so level we didn't use the jacks. We had a water view and watched a nice sunset. No water or sewer hookup. Walked around a bit and found the park to be very peaceful.... More

We recently visited this park for the purpose of being able to go horseback riding. The website says there are horses available to rent and trail riding. We were staying in the area for a short getaway, and have to 2 older children to keep entertained, as well as ourselves. We visited the office to ask about the stables and... More

There were no water hookup at the campground. Most of the electrical hookups were 30 amp; there were a few 50 amp available. Don't forget to pick up your trash; there are a multitude of skunks roaming the campground and they love to get in the trash.
