We were staying in Bloomingdale, about 15 minutes away and I arrived at the market around 8:30 on Saturday. Easily found parking and got right to it. It was just HORRIBLE that I was in town until Thursday so I couldn't buy any of the totally beautiful produce! I mean, fresh, gorgeous fruits, veggies, herbs. I was just sick that I was 5 days away from traveling a few thousand miles to home and couldn't just stock up on everything they had. But I made due. I bought spices and dog treats, all natural energy shots, spicy mustard (the guys makes them himself!), spicy giardiniera, and an assortment of cheeses (I do have a backpack cooler for the trip home!). All the while drooling over the crepes, pretzels, cupcakes, the dozens of assorted fresh made breads. I walked thru pretty slow and was there about an hour and 1/2. This is a gold mine of local flavor! It started getting crowded about the time I was leaving. This market is a must do for any foodie!!

Friendly, upbeat atmosphere. Great place for fresh veggies and flowers. Most of the time though, too many strollers for the width of the isles.

The French Market is a fun way to spend an hour or two on a Saturday morning. Offering a solid variety of foods (French, Thai, crepes, eggs, meats, assorted vegetables, fruits, bakery products, popcorn, oils, jellies, salsa, coffee, etc.), this market also offers clothing, French products, jewelry, books, etc.
At the market, I bought 10 finger puppets to take on a long plane trip with young children. They took no space in my carry-on suitcase and provided HOURS of amusement. We wrote and produced plays; we designed (and colored) background scenery. Everyone, even the adults, had a part. We laughed so hard ... we cried. Now, every time I visit the French Market, I keep an eye out for the next great find. This market is fun! C'est la vie!

I head to this French Market 1-2 times a month and have a love-hate relationship with it. I know the City of Wheaton has contracted to keep it at this site for a number of years, but it's not a good site. I regularly go early or just before closing and it's still difficult to navigate. The aisles are very narrow and often quite hot. Walking through the market is challenging when behind the infirm, strollers, or even families with elementary-aged kids. The only food tables are next to loud generator with diesel exhaust, so I don't usually hit the food vendors on site.
The pretzel rolls and coffee cakes are awesome, though pricey. The cider donuts are a coveted treat. Seasonally, planters are a great feature, as well as the Me-Rei sweet corn in August.
I often bring my knives to the sharpening service on the south side. The boys have sharpened my kitchen knives, pruners, and even a machete for me over the years. If you stop there first, they are usually done within 15 minutes while you shop.
Anytime the carnival is in town (Cream of Wheaton), the French Market moves to the street a block East. It's a much more pleasant experience with the extra room to roam.

Unless you go very early in the morning, this market is difficult to navigate. The aisles are too narrow to accommodate the people and strollers making it difficult to really stop and see what each vendor has to offer. When Wheaton has the Run for the Animals on the first Saturday in June this market is moved to a different location which is much better. Hopefully this will be addressed in the downtown redo! I usually head to Downers Grove and Geneva due to the space issues at Wheaton location.

Great farms for vegetables and fruits. CSA shares in different sizes available at some of the farms. Can get chicken, pork and beef also. Various area bakeries are represented so you can sample some yummy goods. If your a fan of various salsa's those are also available at a few stands/ Definitely a wonderful experience for families.

I understand Farmer's Markets are very popular and get crowded; however the way this is set up is horrible. Aisles are too narrow and it's too hard to see what the vendors are selling. Left and went to Downers Grove market - much better experience. Will not go back to the French Market :(

The French market has some great offerings and is reasonably priced. It’s unfortunate that the City of Wheaton shoves it in a dirty parking lot with no parking available within a easy walking distance for seniors. You would think that Wheaton would learn from Naperville given its successful downtown! Sad Wheaton!

They have a wide variety of different booths with something for everyone. They have fresh vegetables, meats, breads, flowers, and crafts.

A great place to visit, shop for unique items from books to jewelry, grab a bite to eat, listen to music and enjoy a familly friendly (except its too crowded for dogs on leash and kids in strollers). We live here and enjoy and folks who visit reallly like to go.
