Wonderful place, Why didn’t we visit sooner!
Aug 2021 • Family
Wow, I was blown away with this place and we didn’t get to see it all. My husband is a veteran and it really brought back memories for him, especially seeing the same type of tank he used in Operation Desert Storm. The museum was really cool and we will be back to look at everything again. The grounds were immaculate and I can’t believe it was a free, with a small fee for parking, unless you are a veteran/in the military, then it’s free. Highly, highly recommend this for every age, if you’re thinking of going, just go, you won’t be disappointed.

Very Informative! Beautiful Park!
Jun 2021 • Couples
This park has a little something for everyone. Tank Park is a great introduction to the machines that assisted our troops. Tanks can be climbed on. The two major exhibit areas inside will provide you with all sorts of info with regard to the First Infantry Divisions role in WWI, WWII and Vietnam. The exhibits are excellent! Plan on 1-2 hours. Free. Gift shop at Visitors Center. Flower Gardens in the park too.

Great value
Jun 2021 • Family
We were unable to tour the house as it is being renovated, and did not see the museum as it is closed on Tuesday’s when we went, but the ground are enough give a 5 star review. It costs only $5 to park during the week. Admission to the grounds itself is free. There is a playground and a fabulous picnic area with dozens of picnic tables in shaded and sunny areas. What a great place to have a picnic! Restrooms are very clean. The gardens are lovely. The tank park is great, it’s awesome that kids are allowed to climb on the tanks. This place is a treasure and we will be back for an event or to see the house/museum.

We love Cantigny, they're a lot of different stuff to do. You can go to the golf course or walk around the one of many gardens.

A public park unlike any other
Sep 2020 • Couples
Cantigny is a 500-acre public park in Wheaton, Illinois, 30 miles west of Chicago, that includes something for everybody--a visitors center, ornamental landscapes and gardens, two museums, a 27-hole golf course, picnic grove, playground, hiking paths, restaurants and gift shop. Located at 1S151 Winfield Road, three miles north of I-88 West on Winfield Road, south of Roosevelt Road, Cantigny is the former country estate of Joseph Medill and his grandson Colonel Robert R. McCormick, publishers of the Chicago Tribune. McCormick served in World War I, saw action at the Battle of Cantigny and renamed the estate in honor of the battle. Since McCormick's death in 1955, Cantigny has been operated as a public facility. Three of its most popular attractions are the Robert R. McCormick Museum, originally built in 1896-1897 as Medill's 35-room mansion and now a historic house museum; the First Division Museum, named for McCormick's outfit in WW I, which has exhibits, artifacts and a large collection of tanks and artillery pieces that chronicle the First Division's history in WWI and WW II; and Cantigny Golf Club, opened in 1989 and considered one of the finest public golf courses in the country. Start at the visitors center to learn about the park's history, take a coffee break at Bertie's and enjoy lunch at Le Jardin. It all makes for a very relaxing day in the country.

There’s a lot to learn in this park, it’s really fascinating. I also like that they have a botanical garden. It’s a nice place to spend the day.

Climb real tanks at Cantigny park
Sep 2019 • Family
This place is fantastic! It was only $5 for the whole van load of us and with 5 kids, that works!
The scenery is beautiful, well groomed gardens, picnic areas, and an indoor visitor center with nice bathrooms.
My kids really enjoyed climbing on the tanks. We took numerous pictures (I posted a few)
We will definitely be back.
We did an Easter egg hunt a few years ago, that was really fun.
My wife was a crafter at a craft show hosted inside the visitor center one of the times we were here, and that was top notch as well! Especially because it was in conjunction with an antique car show. There were dozens of great cars!
One of these times we go to Cantigny, we are going to tour the mansion!
I highly recommend this place especially for the price.

Great park
Dec 2019 • Family
My wife and I love taking first our children and now our grandchildren on walks through the parks great flower paths. They have built a wonderful kid’s playground. We really enjoy spending the day with the kids just letting the kids run around and climbing over the tanks at the museum. There is a fee to get into the park. If one is a veteran or active duty serviceman, sign up to become a member and then they waver the entrance fee. Also you get a discount at the gift shop and the restaurant. Food at the restaurant has always been excellent for my family. And don’t forget the ice cream shop! Just a great place for your entire family.
