Absolutely Fantastic Day Out. Volunteers are great and knowledgeable, brilliant with children also. We took our son along who loves anything world war 1 & 2 related and as we were in the area, we saw the banners and thought why not.
Our son loved the Simulator (which was brilliant and far cheaper than London attractions) but we didn't mind paying it as the Museum is free (Donations are highly recommended by us).
There is a cafe attached to it, which was packed the whole time, food smelt amazing 👏
We didn't get to try it on this occasion, we were too busy reading and looking at everything on show.
We will Absolutely be back!

An absolute treat. A wonderful museum that is well laid out and tremendously informative. The people running the museum are friendly and very welcoming. But the star of the show is the Spitfire simulator. Squadron-leader Phil, was brilliant. He explained all the instrumentation and then asked where I wished to fly to. Being local I said over Sandwich and Sandwich Bay and so I took the controls and flew from Biggin Hill down the Thames, over to Dungeness and then Dover, Sandwich Bay and into Manston. On the flight I performed to 'rolls' left and then right plus a 'loop the loop'. It was exhilarating and so rewarding. I didn't encounter enemy aircraft but I had, I know I would have seen off the enemy! Brilliant.

Excellent museum with fascinating exhibits, many focussing on the smaller details of human life and anciliary items such as uniform etc, that are often overshadowed by more obvious exhibits in larger museums. Overall the displays provide an excellent description of the RAF in wartime and many personal biographies of individual service men and women, both RAF and Luftwaffe. The Spitfire and Hurricane are well respresented and access close up in this manner is fascinating as an introduction to the types and invaluable to any scale modellers wanting to detail a project.
Free entry is a bonus - thoroughly recommended.

Excellent small museum with a real life Hurricane and Spitfire, and lots of accompanying artifacts. It also has a pleasant cafe serving hot food and drinks both inside the cafe and, in Summer, outside. Don't miss the Spitfire flight sim experience which uses a real Spitfire cockpit, I think £30 extra for this. The staff were also nice and knowledgeable.

Excellent museum, such a large range of exhibits tucked into the two rooms. My son tried the flight simulator, it was £30 for half an hour, well worth it as he enjoyed it so much and has talked about it ever since, the man giving the instruction was great and we had a good chat to one of the volunteers. Hope we can come back when the new simulator is built

We visited in August 2021 having booked a simulated Spitfire flight. The flight was in a an actual Spitfire cockpit with simulated graphics of the surrounding area.
The pilot giving instruction was excellent, the the 30 minute session was enjoyed equally by the participant and spectators. In addition to the super flying experience, the whole museum ( which has free entry ) is fascinating and well worth a visit. I thoroughly recommend it.

Excellent Museum and if you can you have to give the simulator a go! We paid for the 30 min experience in it. All I can say is excellent from start to finish. Considering all the people to work there are volunteers fair play to them! The guy was excellent! Made the experience well worth it throughly enjoyed it he was friendly, interesting helpful funny can’t speak highly enough of him. If you go to the museum you really need to experience this well worth it. The museum is quite small but interesting there is also a nice cafe there so you are able to get a drink and a bite to eat. Nice afternoon out.

My husband has had a Spitfire flight and longs to do another! The simulation (that's all he's getting for now!) was very informative and the 'instructor' did a great job helping with the barrel rolls etc. Very friendly staff in this museum and the exhibits are really interesting, something a bit different to what you usually see in a museum, giving a more human interest story. There is a cafe here too which unfortunately we didn't have time to try. The museum is free, though donations are welcome and they do have some items to purchase to support the museum. Bought some very yummy looking gooseberry and gin jam!!
