We have been coming here for years, and it's sad that this place has become so disappointing!! We brought another couple down who had never been here, and they were completely rude to us!! This is the third or fourth time we have brought friends down and been treated that way. It's really sad too because when we first started... More

I have stopped here annually for years, bought various wine and enjoyed it. This year I was in town for the Burgoo festival, stopped in for a tasting $3 for 6. Gave my cash to the gal. Enjoyed the wine and other folks I met. The server told me that there was a special on the chocolate red (Amour), $10... More

We used to enjoy stopping in the winery every year on our annual weekend in Starved Rock but the past 2 years have been less than pleasant experiences. The staff has been very rude to us and the wine is just average at best. Skip this winery and go to August Hill you will not be disappointed!

Hi Jen, We are so sorry your visit wasn't as good as in the past. We are listening to you and other reviewers and believe the changes we are making will result in much better experiences in the future: New wines, new staff, better bands on the patio, just to name a few. We hope you will come back! More

We passed Illinois River Winery on our way from Starved Rock to a different winery down the street, and decided to stop in for a tasting. For $3, you can sample six not-so-great wines (large selection, none that I tasted were worth purchasing). The decor isn't anything special, but the names of some of the wines were cute ("Born to... We went for a wine tasting and sampled a number of the 'classic' wines, not the fruit flavoured varieties. The first wine supplied by the rather surly staff smelled like acetone and tasted bad, I suspected the bottle was old but then I did not like the following 3 samples of other wines either . A gang of ladies drinking... More

Stopped in after hiking and did a wine tasting . Price was only $3 for 6 tastings . There were several me and my husband liked . I'm more sweet and he is more dry wines. My favorite is the St. Nick. We also enjoyed a glass of wine on the back patio, they had live music . We really... More

My boyfriend and I came here on a Wed night. There was only one person working and there was 3 other couples also there doing tastings. We were waiting for a while. I was surprised I didn't care for a lot of the wines. The only one we liked and bought was the St. Nicks wine. The lady that was... More

This place was a fun stop on our trip to Starved Rock. It's a small building with a cute back patio where you can spend a few hours relaxing and drinking wine. We did the wine tasting which was 6 tastes for $3 which was an awesome value. Their wine is very good at a decent price. I prefer sweet... More

Wife and I did not find our stop-in here worthwhile. The gentleman serving wine was plenty friendly and knowledgeable but a nice guy pouring tiny samples of wine does not a destination make, we found. There are plenty of varieties of wine but nothing amazing and the one I liked best (Claret) was nearly a forty dollar bottle from a... More

We visited during the Utica Winter Wine Walk and this place was rocking! We tried a large variety of wines and found quite a few that we liked. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating as we all were standing at the long bar waving our glasses. I have no doubt that you will find a wine you like here.
