- Massimo FParma, Italy92 contributionsA masterpiece: a must-seeOn the return trip from Villasimius to Olbia we decide to visit this archaeological area. It is only a few kilometers from the freeway. For those like me, who saw the Nuraghi only from outside, from afar or in photos, an exciting discovery. The guide showed us the story, the rest you find out on your own, entering inside climbing the various floors. An App is also available to download for free. The 10 € best spent on our holiday in Sardinia.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 5, 2024
- Kristian Nagel2 contributionsJourney Through TimeNuraghe Santu Antine is a captivating glimpse into Sardinia's ancient past. Located near the town of Torralba, this impressive nuraghe complex is one of the largest and most complete examples of these mysterious Bronze Age structures. We explored the various towers, chambers, and corridors, imagining the lives of the people who inhabited this site thousands of years ago. The nuraghe's intricate construction and impressive scale left us awestruck. Nuraghe Santu Antine is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, archaeology, or simply wanting to learn more about Sardinia's unique culture. This fascinating site offers a window into a bygone era, sparking curiosity and igniting the imagination.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten July 7, 2024
- Jebediah_SolomonHong Kong, China373 contributionsA very interesting piece of historySardinia has an ancient history, a bronze age history with many of these Nuraghe dotted through the horizon. This is one of the larger, better preserved ones. Three stories tall and well lit on the inside it was fascinatng to wander through and learn about this history. There is a very good audio guide too. Amazing to think this was built in 1600 BC, and is 3600+ years old! Surroundings are stunning, with fields and horses right next door.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 17, 2024
- Claude MVence, France1,000 contributionsBeautiful nuraghe. Well worth the visitThis nurraghe was well preserved and restored. It is great to be able to walk throught it and explore the hallways around the towers. There are 2 other nuraghes not too far that offer a good illustration of what small lone towers are like. The entry ticket also gives access to the archeological museum in town: it does not have may artifacts, but a lot of panels explaining timeline and history of the area. It is a good complement to the onsite visit.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 16, 2024

You enter the avenue and little by little you enter the Nuragic world which, as if by magic, envelops you and kidnaps you with its enormous boulders that rise towards the sky. For the entire time you stay inside the thick walls, you live the unique experience of a magical and mysterious reality that the ancient Sardinians have left as a legacy to future generations. It's like a written book and the letters are the stones that make it up, the wells that still have water flowing inside them, the openings onto the valley of the nuraghi, the steps that take you upwards. I have been to Santu Antine many times and each visit fascinates me more and more.
The cost to visit it is 10 euros where in absolute autonomy and thanks to the app you can go around inside respecting the personal times of each of us. The audio guide, comprehensive and clear, tells the story of the nuraghe and its particularities. As a Sardinian I can only recommend visiting this site and anyone who does will discover a different story of the Sardinians.

The central tower is visible from a distance and the closer you get the more impressive it becomes. Not only do you wonder how it was built but also what was it used for? Although the guide was very good, even he wasn't sure what the purpose of the building was; a temple, a fortification to be used in time of trouble or what? As the civilisation who built it did not use writing or leave inscriptions, it is a bit of a mystery!
The interior has passages and rooms, a "sacred well" and a large central area. You can explore all over the structure; if you can, climb the steep steps up to the upper levels for spectacular views over the plain where you can spot one or two oither Nuraghe.
There's a nice little cafe across the road from the entrance with good toilets and an outdoor seating area, and a car parking area

The second nuragic site in Sardinia, it is composed of a central tower 18 m high, surrounded by a trefoiled bastion. The interior has 2 floors connected by a helical staircase. The 2 internal vaults have a shell shape. Price: €10, coupled with a visit to the Valle der Nuraghe Museum in Torralba, which is of no interest.

The nuraghe is unique and amazing in its kind. Unfortunately the site is not managed well. €10 entrance fee and no guide. This is not because there were no staff, but just because the staff would rather sit at the bar than give a guided tour to just two people. They declare that they visit every hour, unless the minimum number of 6 people is reached. But each visitor is not invited to wait for the arrival of others and stall for a guide, rather he is invited to visit alone.

As a previous reviewer has said - if you only see on Nuraghe make it this one.
This 3,500 year old building is mind blowing. Firstly it's age, secondly it's construction and thirdly the views from the top. It was a hot day when we visited but lovely and cool inside. You are allowed to explore the whole structure and marvel at the construction. The views of the surrounding countryside from the top are fantastic.
We downloaded the app and this allows you to self guide round the site at your own pace.
It was not busy when we visited.
The entrance price includes the museum in nearby Torralba but we timed it wrong so didn't visit.

A beautiful preserved site that is worth visiting. Santu Antine goes by another name in Sardinian, “Sa domu de su re,” which translates to “the house of the king.” Santu Antine is one of the largest Nuraghe in all of Sardinia.
The central tower used to stand at a height of 23 to 24 meters but now reaches about 16.5 meters. This central tower is composed of three towers stacked one on top of the other. However, all that remains of the third tower is the terrace, which provides incredible panoramic views of the surrounding land. Around Santu Antine, there are also the remains of an ancient Nuragic village. It has been partially uncovered, and 14 circular huts have been unearthed. Inside the huts, ancient Nuragic artifacts have been found, from seats and hearths to niches.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION: Santu Antine is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the winter, and to 8:00 pm in the summer. Admission fee is €8.
Buy your ticket in the cafe across the road, they will also offer you a brochure. Souvenirs at shop are reasonable priced.

I didn't think there could be a more beautiful nuragic complex than that of Barumini but I had to change my mind. Three-lobed structure with intercommunicating tunnels in perfect condition. Two of the three original floors, perfectly preserved in excellent condition.
I recommend it to everybody.

Sunday 17 September 2023. Ticket cost 10 euros, I was told that the ticket included the visit to the nuraghe and the Torralba museum, about 3 km away. I asked for a ticket for the nuraghe only and was refused. Why do I have to pay for an unwanted service? 10 euros for a nuraghe is too much. I went away.

The archaeological site is beautiful and very interesting, it is one of the most beautiful and well preserved nuraghi in Sardinia I have seen. Too bad, however, for the poor management and little reception by the people who work there. They are busy reading their book (otherwise how do they spend their time while at work?), and if you ask a simple question they reply annoyed. So don't ask for anything, not even a little curiosity can be asked, but wait for the Guide, otherwise divert them from reading! I will not recommend or return!

An amazing construction well over 3000 years old but amazingly well preserved. We had a brilliant local guide who walked us round, through and up the nuraghi, explaining its history and construction, but like everyone else, could not explain its function.
Definitely a must-see.

Hi all,
Is there an entry fee for this (or other Nuraghes) and if so how much? :)
Best,
Josephine
Written April 19, 2016
Hi Josephine,
Last week I paid 6€ entrance fee to visit this nuraghe. This was the cost of admission for adults. Don't know if there's a reduced fee (or free entry) for children and disabled people.
All the best
