We didn't plan to visit but we found that spot on one of the maps with attractions of the Krysuvik area and decided to make a detour and check the place. It was worth it. Although the weather was not on our side, the views...More

We went here to spend a couple of hours from Reykjavik. Took around 30 min to drive there and on the way the scenery was awesome - like beeing on Mars. The place itself was interesting with some hot sprungs and mud pots. We also...More

This area has a lot of hot springs. You can't take a hot springs. But you can enjoy watching steam erupting. Some small ponds are near to trails, you may be able to feel how warm the pond is.

Excellent geothermal area, just a short drive outside of Reykjavik. Recommend visiting during the day and also at night, especially if the sky is clear as you can see the Northern Lights and also the stars as there is no light pollution.
