A bit further from the other Kastels, but well worth a visit.

It was very easy for us to get from Kastel Stari to Kastel Sucurac on the no.37 bus which runs every 10 minutes.Possibly many tourists miss visiting Kastel Sucurac as it is a bit further on from the previous Kastel of Gomilica with its famous Kastilac castle, and it is on the edge of an industrial area, but there are many historical attractions here.I am told that this town has the best-preserved old town centre in Kastela. The Bishop's Palace here, with its Gothic-style windows, also contains a museum(sadly information is in Croatian only here). And the church belfry, the only remains of the devastating Allied bombing of 1943,contains a memorial showing the names of the many citizens of the town killed in that raid:I found this very moving. There is also a very fine view over the harbour up to the mountains.

History in the Town Centre
Oct 2014 • Couples
We visited Kaštel Sućurac to look up the family history of.a friend, and we were surprised with how much history abounds in this small waterfront town. The Archbishop's Palace is located in the centre of town and has much activity in and around it. The building itself is well maintained and has many stories to tell. From here there is a nice walk along the waterfront and throughout the town are many interesting old buildings to explore.
