My wife and I popped in for lunch today, and what a very pleasant experience it was too.
Cheerful and helpful staff, a very attractive food menu, we both struggled to choose!
Finally settled on the pancake roll for myself, which is actually a starter? But hey beefed it up to a main for me, to which I was extremely grateful. My wife had the belly of pork which I tried and it was a mouthful from heaven. The portions were hugely decent, much more generous than the neighbouring Sportsman.
We were too stuffed for pudding but again, great range of choice.
My only criticism is that it is too far away from where I live, so if they could move the pub to Densole, I'd be truly grateful.
Outstanding! Thanks guys, will be back!

Firstly this establishment has not signed up to the eat out to help out .... big mistake.
Us family of 4 still decided to eat here , but omg what a mistake .
We were the only restaurant patrons , and the starters were a disgrace . Served up in plastic lattice baskets, the £6 ribs were 2 bones / and 2 x salt n pepper calamari at £12 was a mush of grease .
Poor poor poor .
The dinners were scampi ( greasy ), and chicken strips (ok), and the 2 x Thai curry’s were good tbf.
Overcharged on the bottle of wine ( and as mentioned this pub was 1/20th full , so it stank of deliberacy .
They still had the audacity to argue the bill.
Please avoid if as a family you do not want to part with big money for an awful meal
Rubbish !!!!!!

Visited this pub on 2/06/15 and got charged £3.75 for a pint of Fosters and later told by a local that locals get charged £3.20. Its wrong that they have a tourist rate and a locals rate, I would have spent a lot more money there if they hadn't ripped me off.

I was led to expect an exciting meal from people who had been here before but it was very disappointing. I had mussels as a starter and there was no white wine garlic or parsley in the sauce. Tasted like cream had been added to the cooking water and that was it. On the plus side it was not over cooked although a lot of the mussels were smashed up.
I had the prawn thai green curry to follow and that was bizarre. The curry was served in a bowl but the rice was in a separate dish with a side salad, including dressing! The curry did not have any Thai basil, curry leaves fish sauce or lemon grass. It seemed to be a few green chillies liquidised in some cream. The prawns were well cooked and generous. The garlic mash that came with a companions lamb shank lacked garlic, and a steak ordered well done was served rare and had to go back.
The staff were friendly and apologetic and they told us the original chef had left recently. Apparently the owner was going to revamp the menu in November.
It was edible and some elements were nice but I can cook better. May try again when the menu has been revised due to previous reputation

Just visited the pub for a Sunday dinner and it was fantastic. The bar staff were friendly and had great sense of humour. The pub inside is well laid out, clean and good decor. Outside could be a little tidier but has a relaxing swing bench. Food was fabulous especially the beef and roast potatoes.

Called in here for a pint when staying round the corner at the excellent Driftwood Beach House B&B. This pub has a welcoming atmosphere and served a good pint of Spitfire. Obviously popular with locals, it is unpretentious but has an interesting and varied menu.
