Wound up camping here overnight after we discovered the hotels were all booked up due to a big craft fair in Galena. Spent some pleasant hours hiking trails with beautiful views of the river before heading off to visit with friends and coming back to sleep for the night. Campground was spacious and quiet (although this was October when there... More

have gone for annual day trip to Mississippi Palisades and enjoyed motorcycle ride through park, stopping a scenic overlooks, but camped there for first time this year. Campground seems as big as the whole rest of the park, with tree-covered sites, some drive-through for big campers, some electrical hookups. Could be marked a little better (was hard to find reserved... More

Nice place to relax in the sunshine, watch the river flow, read a book, and take a nap. But not much diffferent than many other places along the MS River.

Sorry we did not have more time to walk around but we did get out a few times, walk trail to overlook. Beautiful views of river and bluffs. This is a gorgeous spot and I wish it were closer to our home. Great place to hike, walk, ride bike, picnic or just sit and relax

Take some time and walk around the trails.... Stay on the trails there are snakes in the rocks. Washrooms were clean and all over. The views of the Mississippi are great.

The hikes on the North side of the park were underwhelming, with one of them "Turkey Valley" not even printed on the map but it had a post indicating the trail name when we were trying to find another trail that ended in a prairie. There is one decent view on the north side of the river and bluffs, but... More

Definitely will go back and camp at this park again. Sites are big, and many of them offer trees and bushes to separate the sites which is great for privacy. The only draw back to the park, and to ruin the nature around you, are the trains. It must run where trains must use their horns to be legal, and... More

MISSISSIPPI PALISADES STAKE PARK Savanah, IL $20/night electric This is a wonderful state park with nice shower houses. The sites were electric with no water or septic and were spaced nicely with private sites. This is a wonderful park with hiking and breathtaking overhangs. There is a stream that runs through the campsites. There were a lot of mosquitoes. Also,... More

We really love this Campground there was some talk in previous reviews of the train noise and it is correct there is some train noise the train literally runs right next to the water to me it's just part of the area it didn't bother us. Mosquitoes definitely are present in the masses I think they were literally knocking on... More

A gorgeous park with 5 scenic overlooks of the Mississippi River. Modern and primitive campsites, hiking trails for all levels of hikers, many wildflowers in bloom along these trails in the Springtime, boat launching, many picnicking sites and shelters available.
