    Fantastic experience
We went as group of three, for the owl experience there was another couple as well. We were greeted by Sally with coffee and cake (the cake was delicious!). Getting to be so close to birds and experience flying them was more amazing than I expected. I highly recommend this experience!

Unusual activity which is worth trying
We had a wonderful morning in the pretty village of Compton with Sally, the expert owner of various beautiful birds who live in her garden. We started with homemade cake and coffee before being introduced to all the birds and were given interesting facts about each of them. We were then shown how to hold a bird on our arm (gauntlets provided!) before we walked to a nearby field to fly a couple of them. Sally was very chatty and reassuring and clearly loves her birds. We really enjoyed our experience.

Great intimate owl experience hosted by Sally!
Fantastic birthday present. On arrival Sally had prepped refreshments and gave us a warm welcome in. Introduced to the family of Owls individually, Sally gave us a detailed and informative background into each of the species and how she cares for their well-being, and it clearly showed. After getting to hold some of the owls we later took Luna the barn owl for a fly. What a little star! Both myself and my partner are animal lovers - but this experience felt very special and intimate, and we both agreed was a great experience. We would totally recommend to all.

A must for birds of prey lovers!
Fabulous morning meeting some stunning birds of prey. Sally was very welcoming and explained all about each of her birds, sharing her wealth of experience of these majestic creatures. To hold and get so close in such a relaxed environment meant we all felt at ease and could enjoy every second. I would happily go back again and thoroughly intend to!

    Awesome experience
I was gifted a virgin Falconry experience as a present, so didn’t know what to expect. After parking opposite the tea rooms, due to space and easiness, I walked to the location, which had directions on boards. We were welcomed by Sally and sat in her garden for tea or coffee and a slice of cake, whilst waiting for all to arrive. When all 4 of us were ready, Sally took us to the birds, providing us with an introduction and briefing on each of them. The knowledge Sally gave was awesome, even talking about her experiences with each one, and their history. You could tell how much she cared for, and loved each one. They all reacted to her voice and presence, which was brilliant to witness. We then chose a glove and took turns to hold two birds, and having close up photos with them. We then relocated to a nearby large field and took it in turns to free fly a lovely Barn Owl called Luna, and Phoenix, the Harris Hawk. I was given the honour of holding Luna, as we walked to the field which was brilliant. I was so impressed with the experience that I would recommend it to anyone. Sally also does paintings of the birds, and feather bookmarks, which you can buy too. Awesome experience and well worth the money.

    Fantastic experience
My husband and I had an absolutely fabulous experience with Sally and her amazing birds! Sally is very kind and accommodating and has a wealth of fascinating knowledge about birds of prey. The place is lovely, in the beautiful countryside. And of course most importantly, the birds are just incredible! We were introduced to all of them and you can really see their different personalities and how close the bond is between them and Sally. We got to hold the Harris Hawk, the tawny owl and the barn owl - all were stunning, calm and clearly looked after very well. Flying them in the field was brilliant. We had a great morning and would love to come back to visit again!

    Lovely Experience
Experience bought by my daughter for me and my grandson. First thought was how expensive it was. At the end, I thought it value for money. The night before, my grandson asked if I was afraid. There could be fear when thinking of handling these birds, but nothing of the kind; they were almost domesticated and I ended up standing there with one on my arm, talking to her! Of course you learn about the various birds, but the easy atmosphere, lovely food and the almost spiritual feeling when handling the birds is what is special. Don't be afraid - have a go.

    Time extremely well spent.
Our son arranged for my wife and I to spend a couple of hours with Sally at the Falconry. It was in fact 3 hours very well spent. To be in the company of someone { Sally} for whom looking after these fantastic birds is a way of life. Neither a hobby or a job. She loves these birds and you cannot help but go along with her on the journey. We arrived at 10:00 and was greeted with a hot drink and a slice of Victoria sponge sitting in her garden which is surrounded by the cages in which the birds were housed. Later we were taken to each cage and introduced to each of the birds. Sally introduced us to each of the birds, by name, informing us about ther breed and the quirks and fancies of each of the birds. Thereby demonstrating her vast knowledge which you would expect from someone who has spent 32 years working with these birds. Afterwards we then were introduced to two of the birds at close quarters. Wearing leather guantlets Lunar, an owl, and Phoenix, Harris hawk, spent time with each of us {8 visitors in total}. We then took the birds out to a nearby field to fly them. What a wonderful sight. The time spent was thoroughly enjoyed by both of us and all I can add is that if you want a more "intimate" time with these wonderful creatures you could do no better that spend time with Sally and her "children". Word of warning though. Parking could be an issue. No problem, park in the recreation ground on the outskirts of the village and walk in. Sally is about 100 yards from the Coach and Horses.

    A worthwhile falconry experience
My wife Jill and friends Barry and Pauline attended on 11/8/23.We met Sally who was the owner and she welcomed us to enjoy coffee/tea and cake along with other attendees which we found a great start to a wonderful experience. Sally then introduced us to her collection of birds and explained all about them and it was clear she very knowledgable and passionate about her collection. Later after putting on protective glove we all had the chance to have a closer look at the birds perched on our left hand with a photo opportunity. After that a short journey to the adjacent field where two of the birds ( a hawk and an owl) flew to each individual who attended to receive food. The whole experience lasted about two and a half hours and we thoroughly enjoyed it so much so that a repeat visit will be made. Highly recommended. Sally was a great host and our thanks to her for efforts.

Fantastic time despite the English weather!
Greeted with lovely homemade cake and tea/coffee. Sally was very knowledgeable about the birds and they are in great condition. Lovely setting. Enthusiastic talk about the birds as we went around the cages. Handled an owl and a Harris hawk on the glove. Went over to the local field where we had 2 birds flying from one person to the other. Husband was really pleased the Harris hawk ripped apart a dead chick on his glove!

The boys & I spent a fabulous day with Sally & her other guests at West Sussex Falconry on Saturday.

We received a warm welcome from Sally on arrival, were introduced to the small party of other guests, before being treated to a slice of cake & a cup of tea before the day got started.

Sally lives in the Beautiful village of Compton, with her home and birds located within the grounds of her victorian cottage.

The experience started with a tour of her birds, a history of each and a wealth of knowledge shared and discussed about each of the species.

At lunch time we received a lunch voucher for the local village tea rooms, and the group sat in the sun laughing & joking whilst eating and drinking some scrumptious food & drinks.. I recommend the ploughman's & the Rhubarb press! Simply delicious.

On our return from lunch, we were given a glove snd soon started to handle the hawks & Owls before heading across to the fields to experience flying the birds.

We flew an excited barn owl & one of the Harris hawks, and watched in amazement as the birds flew between us and onto our arms.. Simply captivating.

Sally’s wealth of knowledge, her warm hearted approach & care for her guests was only furthered by the response of the birds and reaction to Sally.. There was a clear bond between her and each of the birds (all of them), and witnessing it was a privilege.

To Sally & the other guests who made the day, thank you so much, & to the Compton village Tea Rooms, thank you for a lovely lunch.

We would highly recommend this experience, we did the Falconry Experience.

On arrival Sally was very warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We initially sat down in her lovely garden and had some delicious home made cake & coffee (soft drinks also available).

It was obvious from the very start that she is very passionate and has a vast amount of knowledge about all the birds (Hawks, Falcons & Owls).

She was very good at engaging with the whole group, went into great depth about the birds if you wanted to, as well as some funny anecdotes.

The group of us then went on to handle the birds (clear and easy instructions) and told us the stories behind them. A great ice breaker if you had never handled birds before.

We all went across to the training field opposite and flew the Harris Hawk and 'Luna' the Barn Owl.

This was a fantastic activity and would recommend it to anyone. No rushing to finish on time, in fact the activity ran over by 45 mins 🤣🤣

Situated in the beautiful village of Compton in West Sussex.

Thanks Sally for a fantastic day out!! 🙂 👍 🦅🦅 🍰

Well worth the money, We were greeted by Sally who was very welcoming, We started with a tea/coffee and a slice of cake. Only 8 people in the group. Then Sally walked us around all of the birds, giving us a close up introduction to each of them, The knowledge and information Sally has of the different birds was amazing. Way better than going to the big Bird Centres. You could see Sally cared and loved for all of these birds so much, and they reacted so lovely as she talked to each of them in turn. We then took it in turns to hold two birds, and have close up photos taken with them.
Finally we went over to this large field and took it in turns to free fly "Luna" a Barn Owl, and an amazing Harris Hawk called "Phoenix", I had the privilege to hold Phonenix on my glove and walk her over to the field to start free flying. My Son and I were so impressed with the experience we will definitely go back.
Also Sally does fantastic paintings of her birds which you can buy too.

My friend Julie treated me to the 2 hour owl experience and what an experience it was! Starting with a good coffee and Victoria sponge it just got better .
Sally is extremely knowledgeable and clearly cares deeply for her birds. They obviously adore her. Made me laugh when one of the bigger birds was making a noise over our voices and she turned to him as said ‘Will you please be quiet’. And he did!!
She is extremely professional and ensures everyone is included in her talks and respects how close you want to be near to the birds. The owl flying experience was just great and I’d never handled an owl before.
Sally cheerfully answered my silly questions ( like ‘Do they fall off their perch when asleep?) with interesting facts and never once talked down to anyone. She is also a talented artist and has some bird paintings on show.
I would highly recommend a visit here, just make sure you book well in advance to avoid disappointment

Fantastic morning with Sally and the birds! Started off with light refeshments and cake and chat about the birds. We were shown the birds and free to take pictures while Sally spoke about each individual bird which I found very interesting. We were then able to handle the birds then went across the pathway into a field for some flying experience. A very enjoyable time and well recommended. There are also paintings done by Sally in her little art room which are for sale. The artwork is very well done and she clearly has a great talent. Well worth a visit.

Sally is a warms me welcoming host with an encyclopaedic knowledge of birds of prey. Her love for her birds is delightful to see. While the session was planned for 2 hours, we were there for almost three—mainly down to Sally’s passion for sharing her love of falconry—making the visit very good value for money. We each held and then flew three different birds. There were plenty of photo opportunities. I would highly recommend this activity.

Brilliant day. I bought the 2 hour experience for my partners birthday as he’s always loved watching falconry shows. We weren’t disappointed. The morning started with tea and cake and then Sally showed us round all her birds. She was very knowledgeable and friendly and told us all about each bird. We then got to hold a selection and stroke their chests. She then took us across to the neighbours field where she flew a hawk and an owl and they landed on our gloves. We both absolutely loved it and can highly recommend the experience.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Sally the owner is so passionate and knowledgeable about her birds, left me smiling from beginning to end. Starting with a drink and homemade slice of cake, to viewing and handling some birds to flying some. Best way to spend a morning

What a smashing time Glen I have just had with Sally and all her beautiful birds of prey and owls. It was lovely weather and whilst we had coffee and homemade cake Sally talked to us about how she had always had a passion for birds of prey and owls and eventually ended up running West Sussex Falconry. We then met the birds, all so different and characterful, and Sally talked about them with such love and you could tell how contented and well looked after they all were. We were then able to handle the birds, in our case a gorgeous Harris Hawk and Barn Owl, and then went into the neighbouring field where we had the magic experience of them flying to the glove. Wonderful ! We would thoroughly recommend a visit. Many thanks Sally from Sue and Glen M.

This was such good value for Money. I bought the experience on a groupon so was actually expected to be in a large group and wasn’t expecting the personal experience it turned out to be. There were only 5 of us in the group. Myself, husband, and father-in-law and 2 others.
You were welcomed into Sally’s home with tea and yummy cake where where she shared what are Cleary her beloved pets with us. She was incredibly knowledgeable with over 30years experience with birds of prey. She took us to meet each one of her birds where she shared her knowledge, then we got to handle to birds for a good amount of time before we were off to the field to watch them flay and land on our gloves. I thought I might have been a little nervous as some of those birds are capable of carrying off a small deer after all. But they were clearly her beloved pets and she kept kissing them all over their faces and beaks, so I had no nerves at all and felt totally at ease around them. Thank you, Sally, we had a wonderful session with you and I highly recommend this.
