This was our families first visit here. We walked a few of the different gardens. Being on vacation I picked a weekday to check out this place. It was not busy at all. The kids enjoyed the kids splash area. This is for younger children. Depending on your child, I would guess 10 and younger possibly up to 12. Anyway we stayed there for an hour or so. Then we walked the East loop as it was getting close to closing time. My son loved finding the dinosaur. We would definitely visit this place again. Very peaceful. Lots of butterflies and moth, with birds chipping. Nice

Klehm is an absolutely place to go for a walk on a summer afternoon. The grounds are well kept and the plant life is amazing. Great place also to book for weddings and special events. The employees are friendly and easy to work with for event booking.

I'm writing this as a traveler to other travelers, because while the Klehm offers a multitude of opportunities and programming for local families to enjoy, if you're from out of town and not interested in hiking the arboretum trails, I believe you won't find enough botanic garden here to make a visit worthwhile.

Upon entering the visitor center I was handed a map of the arboretum, with a white sheet inside indicating numbered Info markers along the way. I said "Thanks, but I'm mostly interested in the botanic garden. Can I please have that map instead?" and after a questioning look was told "Well...we don't have a garden per se, it's kind of spread out in various plantings."

Something similar was repeated to me each time I asked an employee or volunteer about the botanic garden. Well, we have a collection of about 40 different peonies over there. Well, we have rose bushes over there. We have a demonstration garden but we don't have a lot planted in there at the moment (June.) But we have some hostas planted in various places among the trees.

Honestly, it took me longer to walk from the parking lot to the visitor center than it took me to tour The Botanic Garden. And the annual plantings I saw were nothing special or unusual; I could have bought any of them at my local nursery.

It feels like the Botanic Garden is either an afterthought, or a forward dream. Even though I got in free through the AHS Reciprocal Program, I was disappointed that I'd detoured and taken the time to stop here. When I read "110 acre Arboretum & Botanic Garden" and saw gorgeous flowers on their brochure and website, I made assumptions I guess I should not have made, which is why I'm not deducting any stars for my failed expectations.

If you love arboretums, I'm sure you'll love this one and it will be well worth your time and money. But if you are touring botanic gardens, I'd recommend Anderson Japanese Garden and Sinnissippi Gardens & Nicholas Conservatory as your priorities, with a stop here if you have time left over.

Nice location by the Rock river in Downtown area. Nice Lagoon and Bike path. The arboretum is nearly new. Nicely done but is very small and does not have that much to see. you could easily breeze through this site in 15 minutes!

First off this is a botanic garden with very little flowers. My wife has more in our yard. The grounds are also covered in weeds. There are also mant dead or dying plants. For $7 each my wife and I expected a lot more. The plant sale was the best part and was worth the trip. FYI during busy times like the plant sale the parking lot is overwelmed. They have a small lot with no bus or RV parking. The grounds seem smaller than 155 acres and can be covered in less than a few hours. If you have never been to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle you may not be as disappointed. Morton is 1700 acres for $11 and is worth the trip.

Thank you Rstang50. I'm sorry you weren't happy with our arboretum. Our volunteers work hard to help us keep the ground manicured and looking great. Give us another visit, please. We would appreciate that.

This is a nice little arboretum to visit, however I can not recommend renting Klehm for any event. The rental director was very discourteous (actually verbally insulting), dismissive and disinterested in providing accurate information, customer service or assistance. I have worked with several other venues and have never been as disappointed as I was at the Klehm Arboretum. An apathetic and lazy rental director sincerely soured the experience, we will neither return nor recommend.

We enjoyed walking through this arboretum, which is actually an old nursery turned into an arboretum. We were thrilled with how well the plants and trees were identified. My husband's favorite garden was the hosta garden. There is a new wildflower garden that is beautiful in the Spring, There were lots of flowering trees. The Gift Shop is nice, too.

These are beautiful gardens but I had a bad experience when I left my leather jacket on their coat hangers. Sorry to say someone took the jacket. Go to the Gardens but watch your personal items.

The arboretum has a large collection of mature trees that are labeled. There are also beautiful flower gardens. Children will enjoy the children's garden. There are paved trails that are easy to walk. If you are a little more adventurous, you can take the wooded walking trails. It is worth the $6.00 admission price. If you go on the first Tuesday of the month, it's free.

People who say it's "poor" are crazy. It's so gorgeous! Two miles of main trails and little wooded ones off of it. So bring bug spray! And if you don't like spiderwebs, don't go on them! They'll get all over you! And any camera equipment, etc. It is flower heaven! So peaceful and would be a great place for graduation, engagement, wedding or any kind of pictures! Rockford isn't a beautiful city but this garden in amazing!
