Nice location by the Rock river in Downtown area. Nice Lagoon and Bike path. The arboretum is nearly new. Nicely done but is very small and does not have that much to see. you could easily breeze through this site in 15 minutes!

First off this is a botanic garden with very little flowers. My wife has more in our yard. The grounds are also covered in weeds. There are also mant dead or dying plants. For $7 each my wife and I expected a lot more. The plant sale was the best part and was worth the trip. FYI during busy times like the plant sale the parking lot is overwelmed. They have a small lot with no bus or RV parking. The grounds seem smaller than 155 acres and can be covered in less than a few hours. If you have never been to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle you may not be as disappointed. Morton is 1700 acres for $11 and is worth the trip.

Thank you Rstang50. I'm sorry you weren't happy with our arboretum. Our volunteers work hard to help us keep the ground manicured and looking great. Give us another visit, please. We would appreciate that.

This is a nice little arboretum to visit, however I can not recommend renting Klehm for any event. The rental director was very discourteous (actually verbally insulting), dismissive and disinterested in providing accurate information, customer service or assistance. I have worked with several other venues and have never been as disappointed as I was at the Klehm Arboretum. An apathetic and lazy rental director sincerely soured the experience, we will neither return nor recommend.

We enjoyed walking through this arboretum, which is actually an old nursery turned into an arboretum. We were thrilled with how well the plants and trees were identified. My husband's favorite garden was the hosta garden. There is a new wildflower garden that is beautiful in the Spring, There were lots of flowering trees. The Gift Shop is nice, too.

These are beautiful gardens but I had a bad experience when I left my leather jacket on their coat hangers. Sorry to say someone took the jacket. Go to the Gardens but watch your personal items.

The arboretum has a large collection of mature trees that are labeled. There are also beautiful flower gardens. Children will enjoy the children's garden. There are paved trails that are easy to walk. If you are a little more adventurous, you can take the wooded walking trails. It is worth the $6.00 admission price. If you go on the first Tuesday of the month, it's free.

People who say it's "poor" are crazy. It's so gorgeous! Two miles of main trails and little wooded ones off of it. So bring bug spray! And if you don't like spiderwebs, don't go on them! They'll get all over you! And any camera equipment, etc. It is flower heaven! So peaceful and would be a great place for graduation, engagement, wedding or any kind of pictures! Rockford isn't a beautiful city but this garden in amazing!

I am rating this a four because we have been there before when everything is blooming, this time of the year it is not. We took my mother in law there for Mother's day because she loves flowers. The grounds itself is very large so make sure everyone in your party is ready for a day of beauty and exercise. There was not much blooming but there were some very interesting looking trees, and a beautiful waterfall. If you are into geo caching there are two here, although we could only find one. Make sure you pick up a map and follow the numbers to make sure you do not miss anything. There are a lot of different paths that you can take through the woods, that is also on the map. Everyone there was friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed our visit.

The cold weather has delayed our spring blooms, but warm weather is on the way! We hope to see you soon. Maybe at Garden Fair on June 6,7 and 8th.

If you enjoy walking in nature, Klehm is a great destination! I go several times per year and the seasonal changes are wonderful to see. They have great events that draw the public as well. There is a special children's garden with play area and a great maze for slightly older kids. I'm particularly glad they are open year round.

We have not gone again this year, but it is constantly growing (no pun in pleasure). The water features are pure fun in the summer. The gardens themselves are unpretentious, straight-forward Midwestern beauty. We have gone many times with many different ages; never been disappointed. Garden shop is small, but quite nice, too.
