We stopped here on a beautiful day and went for a three mile hike on their well groomed trails. Lots of bird and little creatures scurrying about. No charge to wander about, but you can leave a donation.

This is a very nice forest preserve. There are many paths to explore. Therefore look at a map if nervous of getting lost. I know I didn't even see it all. There are many ponds to see. It also had a very nice play area for kids. The building/office was closed so don't know much about it. It was an awesome place to visit.

The employee I spoke with was very helpful and informative, and the actual buildings and trails are nice. However, I was provided with a map for a walk, and the numbers to follow did not match what was on the trails at all. I had to twice call to find out where to go because I had wasted so much time trying to figure out my way back to the parking lot, and I do not get lost easily. I was told that there are old postings of differing trails, something like that, and it confirmed my theory that the numbers posted were off compared to the map in hand. Be wary of that issue if you decide to use the trails.

Your experience inspired us to update the map because we had a better understanding of the visitor experience and where the challenging parts were. The numbers that were put in place were done so relatively recently, but there was some confusion between those numbers and the numbered posts with QR codes for information on them. Hopefully no one else will run into this problem in the future. Thank you so much for providing feedback and check the Severson Dells and Forest Preserves websites and in the Nature Center, too. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

This is a great place to visit in the spring, summer and fall, and there is always some special activity or lecture or special travel presentation occurring throughout the year. Great for all ages. We especially enjoyed the canoe trips down local rivers last year.

I've gone to this place many times on field trips with my class. We hike and learn about nature from the wonderful volunteers. Recently , they built an outdoor playground that is like nothing I've seen before. My sons really enjoy it. It's so different from a typical playground. Check it out!

Beautiful natural area with well-maintained trails and helpful, friendly staff. We had a lovely autumn walk and enjoyed the fresh air and serenity. A real plus for us as birders was seeing a pileated woodpecker!

A couple of paved and unpaved circular paths that traverse the park boundary and some include cut-offs. My wife and I enjoy the solitude.

Parked at locked enterance and walked in
I took the long loop around for 2 miles or so. Trail has some elevation changes, drops down to a nice stream, and mostly is wooded. Nice and quiet on my visit , just before dusk, after visitor center closed.
