There are lots of little gardens spread around this center. Plenty of signage to explain what we were seeing. There is a scavenger hunt for children to find different plants.
There are warning signs about aggressive red wing blackbirds. I thought it was a joke until I kept getting buzzed and hit on the top of my head by one.
There are repurposed items like shoes and tires that are now flower pots.

You can never go wrong visiting a botanical garden. Everything changes from season to season. We will return the very next time we are in the area.

Kinda pricey for such a small place. I expected it to be much bigger with a better fall display. I love to photograph flowers and landscaped areas but there really wasn't much to see at this time of year. We had walked the whole place in 40 minutes. Half of the garden plots were empty. The one thing that we really liked was in than most greenhouse, the plant labeling was very informative and easy to read.

This is a lovely facility in a relatively small space used to great advantage.

There are peaceful indoor and outdoor gardens with plants well labelled , as well as pools with hungry fish!

Children will love both the miniature train layout and the outdoor water facilities - with fountains, and a miniature Mississippi to splash about in

Great value and friendly, helpful staff.

My wife and I have been to botanical gardens all over the USA. This was the worst, but it shouldn't be that way. You can see that it was quite the place at one time. It had weeds growing in every "adopted" garden area. Not just a few. The weeds are taking over! The greenhouse was a disaster area. Extension cords on the floor, empty planting containers on every flat surface, rusty gardening tools scattered around, plants that looked like refugee camp survivors. It was embarrassing and I don't own the joint. The Mississippi River replica in the kids area was ridiculous. I can't imagine how much money was spent trying to make something really cool that ended up looking like something really neglected with mostly dead, sparse or uninspiring flora and fauna. The trains weren't running in the train display, the butterfly garden was neglected at best, the perennials, prairie wildflowers were sickly looking and the annual were sparsely distributed. The board was holding a meeting in the lobby while rooms designed for meetings sat empty. The whole experience was disappointing. It's too bad because you can imagine what the place was when someone cared.

The arboretum is doors open to the Illinois sunny weather. The gardens outside are at their peak. The children's area offers a splash pool and walking paths. The koi are gorgeous but get there early if you want to feed them as they limit the feeding for their own health.

We were immediately impressed by the friendliness of the staff, and at $6 per senior the cost was reasonable. We were there in April, so flowers weren't out in full, but we still enjoyed touring the grounds and the tropical atrium. Our main problem was that there weren't always signs identifying some of the unusual plants outdoors, so we were left wondering what we had admired. The gift shop is small but had very nice selections of items, much better and more creative than usual.

My family loves the Botanical Center. We have a yearly pass. We go all the time in the Spring, Summer and early Fall for the children's Garden and sprinkler area. It is beautiful and the kids can play in a safe interactive environment. There is also a train room that kids love and Koy pounds where children can feed large gold fish. There are gardens for adults and children as well with many different plants and trees. There are a number of benches and areas to read or sit and relax. I love the Botanical Gardens. In October the Gardens have childrens activities for Fall every Sunday they have special activities through the summer and winter months as well.

The Quad City Botanical Center is well maintained, offers great educational programs, and is wonderful way to spend time in nature no matter the time of year. In nice weather, enjoy the outdoor gardens along the Mississippi River along with the children's garden. Even in bad weather, the indoor gardens are beautiful and a great way to escape the cold.

All that was missing was snow for the outside portion of the display. The tour started inside in the warm air of the conservatory winding around on the paths with the house lights dimmed to accent the colorful arrangements woven and arrayed among the plants and fish ponds. After enjoying the inside arrangements including all sorts of fun lights and colors it was time to move outside. The lights were spectacular particularly around the pond with a variety of colors and reflections off the ice! There were many interesting themes including Reindeer and a Santa’s workshop. We were happy with our visit but mused that it would have been nice to have had a freshly fallen blanket of snow to setoff the colorful outside lights. Once inside again we enjoyed an exhibit of Quilts and another of Fused Glass Art. We finished our visit with a cup of hot chocolate and watched other visitors making holiday greeting cards at a make your own work station. All in all, it was a very nice way to spend an hour and experience some Holiday Cheer!
