The MRVC (Lock and Dam 15) is on the island with the Rock Island Arsenal. There is a history of river travel and the purpose of the locks and dams that help facilitate river travel. The river 'steps down' to St Louis and without the...More

The visitor center has an enclosed and an open deck that overlooks the locks from a short distance. I saw a barge pass through the lock and the docent gave an excellent overview of the history of navigation on the Mississippi.

They have an interactive center. If you go in the spring through fall and are lucky you can watch a barge pass through the locks

This area has the most wonderful place to see the eagles this time of year. On the Mississippi River, there is no better place to view the splendor of this bird. People come from all over to experience this.
