The Livingston County War Museum is located on the 3rd floor of a building containing multiple museums. I certainly wasn't prepared for this exhibit. Upon entering, I was immediately taken back with the deluge of mannequins dressed in uniforms. Upon closer inspection, I saw that each represented a local service man/woman. A tag hung from each, telling the visitor who... More

I love military history, and do my best to visit local museums while on vacation. This museum is small and the space is packed pretty tightly. I would recommend to the local town council that they find and dedicate an entire building to this group! The uniforms and equipment they have available could easily justify their own building with ten... More

Must visit if in Pontiac. The museum is ran by wonderful, very knowledgeable volunteers on donations. We loved hearing all the stories the guide knew about all the soldiers they had featured. We had a great day visiting all the sites in Pontiac.

This is a war museum with information and displays from the civil war until present. The displays are well kept, amazing amount of uniforms and guns. The volunteers are great as most are vets and love to share their experiences. Best museum in Pontiac. Oh, it's free too.

I could have spent our entire visit to Pontiac in this one museum. There was just so much to see, read, and learn about from those who volunteer to man the museum. If you're a veteran, please don't pass this place up. You'll be kicking yourself in the butt if you do. And best part of all...it's totally FREE!

I became acquainted with Pontiac, Illinois, in the early 1970s when I began to cover the Pontiac Holiday Basketball Tournament that annually attracted some of the best high school teams in the state during the Christmas holidays. What I didn't realize at the time was that Pontiac would become home to several museums, including the Livingston County War Museum and... More

Volunteers were very dedicated. Way too musty in the uniform display area. WWII newspaper front pages enlightened me to a different way of perceiving a tragedy.
