I visited the Playhouse with my daughter-in-law and 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. Three floors of FUN, FUN, FUN plus a Sand Porch! The "construction zone" has kid sized Caterpillar equipment, hard hats, goggles, safety vests, etc. In the "agriculture zone", children can harvest crops, gather eggs, milk a cow, and watch pigs fly. (Yes! Really!!) The house has ample cooking space and lots of realistic foods. There is even a radio in the kitchen! There is an area where kids can use real tools to hammer nails. The Sand Porch includes a huge sand table with lots of toys and two large vacuums to take care of the sand on clothing and shoes before heading back inside or out to the car. (We visited in January and the heated Sand Porch was very comfortable.)

Upstairs is a large reading nook and access to the hayloft and an apparatus to help the aforementioned pigs fly.

Lower level: huge water table (vinyl aprons available for kids to stay dry), a "town" that includes a dentist, daycare, kitchen, and mailbox; a theater where the kids can "sell" tickets and play act; a train; a "science" area, and a large ball apparatus with pneumatic tubes that's simply too much fun to describe in this review.

Throughout the museum, there are benches for the adults and toddler only play areas for the little ones. On the lower level is a large room for parties. Main level includes a small gift shop.

Staff was very friendly and available throughout the museum. There are no concessions available at the museum and food/drink are not allowed in any of the play areas.

It's a fantastic place to visit and Peoria is lucky to have such a facility!! Thank you Junior League of Peoria for organizing this great place!

My children, ages 4, 9, and 11, really enjoyed the museum. I was worried at first that my 11 year old would be too old for the museum, but he had a blast! He loved the building room (with real tools), while the kinetic sand table was a huge hit with my 9 year old. My 4 year old loved the huge play kitchen and the water table. The admission price wasn't bad at $8/person. The membership packages are very reasonable. They pay for themselves after a couple of trips (depending on family size). It will only take 2-3 hours to enjoy the whole museum, depending on child's attention span. However, we did spend over 1 hour just in the building section. The museum is handicap accessible. The bathrooms were very clean. The whole family enjoyed the museum. We hadn't even pulled out of the parking lot and the kids wanted to know when they could go back!

My family was in town with three small children on Aug 15th. At about 12:05 we went to the playhouse. Door was locked a, a staff member came to the door and stated they close ar 12:00 on Tues and Tues mornings are for members only. I feel this is not user friendly at all.

Took a weekend trip to Peoria with my three boys who are 9, 6 and 6. It was our first trip to the Peoria Playhouse and all three boys thoroughly enjoyed it. It is not overly big but it is new, clean and well maintained. The outdoor kinetic sand area, construction site, farm house, ball gallery and water world were all enjoyed but the little playhouse area itself presented an opportunity for interactive play for over an hour. The staff was friendly and present enough to make sure control and tidiness was maintained but not so much as to be intrusive in anyway. We made small purchases at the gift shop and the prices were very reasonable for some creative toys. The Playhouse is located in the same park area as the Zoo. The park area also contains a wonderful wooden park. It was an inexpensive way to spend an entire day. It ended with very happy and worn out children. Perfect ending.

This was a pretty large play and learning center that's great for kids in a wide range of ages. I took my toddler knowing he probably wouldn't even be interested in a lot, but would love to run around and I could look at stuff too. I was surprised to see that there was an entire room made for kids under 5 which was great. My son loved it the entire time and didn't want to leave. Mission accomplished!

This is a fantastic spot to enjoy a day of fun with young children. It has 3 levels of fun. That being said it doesn't feel huge so it isn't overwhelming. A lot of hands on exhibits and it will entertain all senses. My son (8 yrs old) loves the hands on real tools workshop. Very convenient free parking. I would allow 3+ hours to enjoy all the excitement this spot has. Although I think older kids would like this, I think it is geared to 9 and under.

We got to many different children's museums, so we were excited when this new one opened within driving distance. It opened in Mid-June (2015) so it was crowded because it is so new. We were afraid when we got there that it would be too small for our kids and that we would be in and out in a really short time, but our kids (ages 3-8) loved this place and we spent at least 2+ hours there! We could have stayed longer but it was getting close to lunch and naps. There are so many little areas in this museum such as a hen house, housekeeping/kitchen, construction/woodworking, huge sand table (filled with Kinetic sand), water table, ball play (SO FUN!), science room, movie theater....SO much more! The technology used in this museum is great! As a mom and a preschool teacher I was very impressed. You have to leave your stroller parked outside (it is WAY too cramped to bring it in anyways), and you cannot bring in food. You can bring in drinks though. There is a park right behind the building with picnic tables so you could easily pack a lunch and eat at the park. It is also right by the Peoria Zoo so it would be easy to make a whole day out of this area/location. Great job Peoria!

This was such a fun trip and we stayed for about 3 hours- but could have stayed longer! There is so much to see, do and play within the museum. The best thing is that as an adult I had just as much fun as the kids. The museum is really for all ages. (They even have toddler areas for the littles one!)

Like other museums, they don't allow strollers within the facility but they have "stroller parking" on the porch outside. For us, it was better to just leave in the car.

The admission is right on par with other children's museums and with other Peoria-area attractions. They have a joint daily ticket for the museum and Peoria Zoo. That way you can park once and stay all day. They do sell memberships which are worth the money!

Approximately 40 people in our party spent 2 hours exploring the museum. By far, the favorites were the water table and the ball room. We then moved to a private room for cake and gift opening, overseen by a very attentive staff member-no clean-up! The afternoon was enjoyed by everyone from 2-80.
