Forest Park is a great place to hike with several trails of differentiating difficulty. There are flat trails that are great for taking the littles along and they do quite a few neat classes/programs throughout the year.

We are locals and used Forest Park to build up our hiking ability when we were preparing to hike out west. We have seen wild turkey and deer depending on the time of day.

I love the trails here. They are perfect for getting away from your concerns of the day. Quiet, peaceful, well maintained trails. There is always the opportunity to see some wildlife in their habitat.

We absolutely love this hidden treasure along the Illinois river. My children the inside exhibits and the walking trails. We have hiked all the trails in area and love the variety in the different wildlife you can see. A great family adventure for all ages.

We even saw a dozen or so deer prancing through the hills, by a trail actually called Deer Run! Trails are well maintained, and the visitor center has a lot of good information and fun exhibits for kids, including a taxidermied eagle and live tarantula....More
