The shrine one of the martrydome place as "kabaka" Mwanga II on 26 May 1886 took an "oath" to in passing over guillotine to leaders in Royal enclave as St. Andrew Kaggwa, St. Denis Ssebugwawo and Saint Charles Lwanga 1886 and was later canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1964.
You can Visit the holy place formally designated as an execution palace just located about 12.6 km away the city Center on Saalama rd for rich, soul-touching yet interesting history about the king(Mwanga II) his subject, sevants and Christianity mix!!!

A good place to reflect on one's faith and their relationship with the creator. There is more to life than feeling sorry for oneself.

Unbeknown by many does the world famous Namugongo Martyrs Shrine have a 'cousin' located not far from my lake side residence. I visited a few weeks ago at the spur of the moment and found it worth my time. Some of the Ugandan martyrs are buried there and the new link to the Entebbe Kampala superhighway which also connects Munyonyo gives easy access for visitors.

It was nice to attend the holy mass on last sunday at Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine, then after a mass I got an opportunity to get the historical explanation about the statue and the tomb of St. Andrew Kaggwa who was killed on 26th May 1886 and St. Denis Ssebugwawo which is statue is located another place not far from the church ground.
The church location can be reached easily there are public transport and its well known place, I recommend this place to all christian believers to learn the way these saints did not afraid to die but proceeded to preach gospel

Just on a quick day to Speke Resort trip from Muyenga and we thought we would stop by. The church and grounds were under construction, but there was a guide of sorts who brought us into the construction area to see the memorial statue. He said that they were hopeful the church would be open in November 2016. The tomb is outside of the construction area.
