A nice rebuild castle with an exhibition inside. Interesting to visit
Nov 2021 • Couples
It is a really well rebuilt castle which contains an interesting exhibition about the life of the people in the castle. Even the live inside looks really good. The life outside :-( all the buildings and houses arround are destroyed and damaged. Anyway...the castle is lovely to visit

Beautiful Small Castle
Nov 2020 • Solo
Mirbat castle is located on the coast not far from the centre of the small town of Mirbat. The place was the epicenter of the conflict in early 1970s in Oman civil war. There is a building close by which is another remnant of that period.

The castle has been renovated and is open for visits, though at the time I visited, it was closed due to Covid restrictions. It offers a very good glimpse of what ot must have been like to be in that period of turmoil.

Visit the Mirbat tower scene of the Mirbat battle
Aug 2018 • Couples
The castle is well laid out with lots of interesting information and displays. The wider area has more to offer than just the castle with tower and battle at Mirbat in 1972. Unfortunately there is no displays on this so do your research in advance.

A mix of different shades of green and Blues this place is Magical in July to September
Sep 2017
We loved the different shades of blue in the water and the variety of greens in the surrounding area. A beautiful place to picnic and enjoy every breadth of time spent here.
Mirbat is a must visit location in Salalah. carry your picnic basket to enjoy and bask in the awesome surrounding.

A quaint Place
May 2018 • Family
I visited this place on May 15th, 2018 from Salalah while visiting Mirbat, I wasnt able to visit inside the castle as it was closed.
The castle was small so I don't think there is any thing worth watching here, but the whole location is picturesque, the whole beach and stuff.
This place opens by 9AM-1:30PM and doesn't open on Fridays and Saturdays.

The castle was shut Fridays & Saturdays, opening hours are 1000 to 1500hrs ?. So we didn't get to go in, but still nice to walk around outside.

One of the strangest places I have visited
Dec 2017 • Couples
Our original plan was to visit Mirbat Castle, but on arrival, the unfriendly custodian told us that we were not allowed to take photographs. Once inside, we understood why. The castle appears to be in the process of being restored, and there is nothing to see. The rooms are blocked off, with plastic sheeting shrouding any items that may be of interest.
We spent less than 10 minutes inside.
Outside, there is a lovely beach.
To the side of the castle are the ruins of many old merchant houses. We don't know why they have been allowed to disintegrate in the way that they have. This could be a wonderful tourist attraction, but unfortunately, is just a bizarre ghost town.

Mirbat has a number of old merchant houses, built in traditional style,
The place is not kept in as good condition as the other castles/forts we saw in the country
