About
The Lizzadro Museum recently relocated to Oak Brook. We opened our doors in our new facility on November 12, 2019. Our museum was founded by Joseph Lizzadro in order to share his love of Lapidary Art with others. The Museum opened its doors in Elmhurst on November 4, 1962 with this statement of purpose from the Lizzadro Family, "To share with others our enjoyment of the eternal beauty in gemstones and our appreciation of the art with which man has complemented the works of nature". The museum is still owned and operated by the Lizzadro Family.

This is a great museum and such an amazing collection of lapidary. It is easy to get to, plenty of parking, and a perfect way to spend an hour or two. So many exquisite pieces. There are videos to watch throughout about the history of the museum and the creation of pieces. Also an interactive screen that was fun. I enjoy a smaller museum where I can really see all there is on display. And don't forget to stop in the gift shop to take home a trinket or piece of jewelry made from all different types of gemstones. Highly recommend.

Lizzadro Museum is filled with a variety of exquisite and detailed hand-crafted items made from Jade, Coral, semi-precious and precious materials. The quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding. I was constantly amazed at the age of the items, many over 250 years old . There are great explanations at each item to help you understand what it is made of and where it was originally crafted. The building is very well lighted, clean and not overly cramped. One section is just to explain the variety of stones and semi-precious stones found in the US and other sources.

I honestly went in there thinking I'd be bored out of mind mine.
Nothing could be further than the truth.
The Museum is fascinating and informative. The pieces of art are so intricate and beautiful. I was amazed the the craftsmanship. There are even kid friendly items to keep their interest as well. A nice surprise!

One of those small, off the beaten track museums that's worth a visit. Beautiful displays in a well-maintained building. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking and a great gift shop.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this museum. Exhibits were well marked and there was a small gift shop with quality minerals specimens and jewelry. Part of The Smithsonian Institute.

I've lived in this area for decades and I can't believe I've never been to this place before. It's a really great mix of beautiful and educational. We have a group of family members of all different ages and everyone enjoyed it.

We went with a friend, and shared an amazing experience.
The facility is easily accessible, well-maintained and nicely conceived.
The exhibits are interesting, informative and aesthetically impressive. From exquisitely crafted carvings to overwhelmingly beautiful mineral wonders; one can immerse oneself in both man-made and natural beauty.
The videos on the history of this enterprise, and its creation, are a testament to a man and his family's vision (and to the benefit of having the resources to pursue it).
The staff were friendly and accommodating; and the museum gift shop is filled with an interesting array of items to browse and consider.
One can comfortably explore this museum in a couple of hours; but one could just as easily spend several more hours (even days) savoring the beauty and intricacies of its contents.
This somewhat off-the-beaten path gem, is an opportunity not to be missed.

Beautiful art and it was wonderfully displayed. There were many informational displays and I appreciated the attention to the history of the stones and stonework.
