Standing on a hill
Jan 2018 • Solo
Walked up to the memorial its a stiff climb if you get out of puff easily there is access from the top of the hill but it is not clearly marked and is not wheelchair friendly . It is a fine granite plinth overlooking the length of the High Street . I was dismayed that vandals had seen fit to fling the wreaths down the hill and even into the branches of a tree . There are beer cans lying about and it is hard to believe that some folk have no respect for the memorial.
The architect was Andrew Murdoch and the memorial covering 2 world wars was unveiled in 1928
