Doode Beemde is a hidden 270 ha nature park between Leuven, Overijse and Bertem following the Dijle river, A hidden GEM with amazing views.
The Park has 9 km walking roads and you can walk around freely. There is a small observation kiosk close to the Neerijse entrance. Perfect seating for bird watching.

You can book a guided walk up to 25 people at infocentrum@vhm.be

We finished our walk with a few beers at Brouwerij de Kroon in Neerijse.
Perfect afternoon out

Here you can see how the land was / is managed in harmonie between the farmers and nature, a small river ( which is the home of beaver families) crosses this area which makes it a wet land with a lot of special plants and animals , you can make a nice walk, take your binoculars with you and visit the birdwatching hut near one of the many ponds this park has and if you are lucky you will see the kingfisher or the white heron

Beautiful piece of nature, probably even more beautiful in summer than in winter. Very swampy in many places, so good shoes / boots are recommended.
