If you are looking for actual historical information about the area, stick with the downtown area and go to the city's visitor center by Hotel Nauvoo. The area down by the river is all LDS and they have their own visitors center. Everything is staffed...More

Sopped here by accident, we saw a sign for a Old Time Jail. We found the jail and soon realized that it was the jail where the leaders of the Mormons were being held prisoners. Very nice center to visit with the whole family.

Took teenagers and there was so much to see and do. I suggest you don't try to do too much inappropriate single day. We only plan es two days to see everything ant that is not enough time. The kids got too burned out.

There are lots if outside spaces where your dog can walk and play, but you won't be able to take your dog inside the historic pioneer homes and buildings.

There is a lot of good weather in April and also some bad. Seasons differ greatly from year to year. Spring flowers can be spectacular at Nauvoo and I enjoy not having to deal with crowds. Many wonderful sites and... More
