For a couple dollars you can come in to see a little bit about the history of the city and where it came from and its importance along the river. It's a nice decent size medium. It's well organised and certainly the people were friendly. About an hour or so if you're walking around downtown

At $6 entrance fee this is a very affordable way to spend an hour or two. It will give you a good overview of Joliet, but there is little mention of Route 66. There is more displays on Star Wars and Space than on how Route 66 affected the town.

Usually we are great supporters of local town museums as we are aware of how much time, effort and love goes into producing and maintaining them. Sad to say this was our first museum of our Route 66 trip and disappointing for the following reasons; the cost to get in $6 a piece whereas almost all others on the route... More

I currently live in Joliet. It's amazing how much history is in your own back yard! The old Joliet Prison is amazing if you love architecture with its wall built out of limestone quarried right here in Joliet. It's no longer housing prisoners and you can't tour it....yet! But I will be the first in line when it opens to... More

This was an interesting museum to visit. There were so many things to see in a small area. It was a nice tribute to the area.

If you are from Joliet or have spent a significant part of your life here, you will love this museum. If you are not from Joliet, the museum is interesting but not as much. I love seeing how all the places I know have changed and evolved. The exhibits are well thought out, and there's actually a lot to see.... More

Great place to spend some time. It is well kept and organized. It has some very interesting memorabilia about Joliet and the surrounding area. Attended a charity event one evening and had to bring my family in the next week, great family event. Great place to have an event.

The Museum has information on the Joliet area and quite a bit on Route 66. There is plenty of parking located a short walk from the museum. If you collect NPS Passport cancellation stamps, there is one for the I&M Canal located in the gift shop. If you are in the area, it is worth a visit.

this was the first of many museums we stopped at on our Route 66 trip. It was fun and the staff was friendly. It's worth the stop, and the AC was really great on a HOT day. They have a nice gift shop as well.
