Three great trips with Pyrgos house during our week in Kythira. Started with a hike and waterfall... a few days later kayaked together in the ocean... and today we rappelled while canyoneering. This last trip was my favorite (but not ideal for somebody who never did something like this before). We spent 3 hours scampering over boulders, using ropes to get down into beautiful gorges, meeting only goats until we arrived at the ocean. Most importantly, Pyrgos House staff went out of their way to make sure we were safe, comfortable, and to make our vacation as wonderful as possible. Highly recommend!

With Pyrgos House (Frank) we have made 3 guided walks on the Island Kythira. The walks were beautiful and we got a lot of information about the history and all the things we have seen during the walks. If there are enough attendees there is a delicious lunch after each walk. Beside hiking Pyrgos House offers a lot more activities. Also you can book one of many accommodations and Pyrgos House can advise you how to travel to Kythira. I think they can arrange anything for you on Kythira. Visit the website in different languages !

We booked a ‘canyoning’ tour for 8: 2 adults and 6 kids ages 10-16. Frank was our phone contact and was always helpful, courteous and quick to respond. Nikos our guide was punctual, poliite, professional and jovial. The hike and rappelling was challenging and exciting. He made everything feel easy and safe. Everyone had the most memorable time. This excursion is not for everyone. You need to be in good physical condition. Do not underestimate the importance of proper footwear. No one in our group spoke English but everyone at Pyrgos House does so no problems there. We even learned some Greek. Nikos taped the whole trip and made a great video for us, a perfect souvenir. Highly recommend.

I can’t emphasise enough about the quality of service this place offers. I found a brochure about their services while I was visiting Dad in kythira and thought wow I’d love to try some of that stuff! Canyoning, kayaking, hikes etc. So whilst at the Sunday markets in Potamos I searched for their shop. It was a little hard to find but once you ask the locals they point you in the right direction. It’s opposite the church but not on the side of road of the souvenir shops strip. It’s like under a house across from the church steps. As soon as I entered I was greeted by Lovely Frank who spoke great English and had excellent knowledge of the island and what the excursions offer. He happily showed me on a map where I could hike alone as well as explained how to get there. I booked the kayak excursion and he confirmed via email and his response rate is very efficient when asking questions via email. The meeting on the day at lykodimio beach went smoothly and ran on time. We enjoyed our kayaking around a part of the island you would only ever usually see from land as it is cliff face. Ventured into some caves and went snorkeling. Great work out but also the guide Dimitri was accommodating to those who were not as fit as others. I highly recommend this place.

On our recent trip, we used Pyrgos house to arrange three different events/classes. First, we took the organic greek cooking class--which is offered once a week in Potamos. It was fantastic. Four of us received a 6 hour cooking class (complete with culture and jokes and plenty of food), and then dined together on the best Greek food I've ever eaten. It was one of my favorite days in Kythira. I speak no Greek, and was concerned that I wouldn't understand the class, but Frank (from Pyrgos House) was there for the entire time offering a full translation--in both English and Dutch. We were able to ask questions about food, culture, traditions and life on Kythira. Definitely a MUST DO if you're able to get in (book ahead!). We also worked with Frank (Pyrgos House) to arrange a private 3-hour hike to the water mills in Milipotamos with our children. It was a great hike--lots of history and interesting tips, a swim in a beautiful (and freezing) fresh water fall, snacks and hiking. Lastly, we took a Greek dancing lesson--offered on Friday in Agia Pelegia. It was 2.5 hours of great fun--and we learned some dancing (even though we're not usually much for dancing). The instructor was excellent--and had been a previous professional dancer in Athens. OUTSTANDING. I'd highly recommend any program/hike/class that Pyrgos House is involved with. I'm extremely pleased that Frank is on Kythira and working to introduce its wonderful culture to others.
