About
The rules here are so simple that they're laid out right in the business's name: 60 to Escape. Small groups of friends, family members, or coworkers are locked in a room, where they have only an hour to use problem-solving skills and teamwork to escape. Players can select from a variety of scenarios to challenge themselves with.

We have done two of the four rooms. Both of them were loads of fun and quite the challenge. We definitely plan on going back to do the other rooms.

Fun activity for a small group
Feb 2021
We had a group of 6 recently visit 60 to Escape in Gurnee. 3 of us had done one before (didn't escape) and 3 were new. We all had a great time. According to our game guide, we made it about 80% of the way through....it would be a great "feature" to be able to pay a little more for more time to try and solve the room...but I realize that would be a scheduling nightmare.

Our family has participated in several of the different escape rooms at 60 to Escape. Each one is well designed and fun to complete. The staff is professional and friendly. We highly recommend it!

Good set design, challenging and unique puzzles
Oct 2020
We are are family of four with two teens and we've done over 100 escape rooms. We did the Blast from the Past, Mystery Manor and Hidden Temple. Our favorite was Hidden Temple due to the unique games and electronics. Although we loved the Arcade theme of the Blast from the Past since we remember arcades fondly. The rooms did a great job of limiting the locks in all of the rooms. The arcade one is older than the others and had a few more, but we still enjoyed many of the unique puzzles. Mystery Manor is a little freaky (think about a "scary" laugh), but not truly scary. It also has some good technology. We don't like the horror themed rooms - but they have one if you like to be scared. These rooms overall had a good mix of good set-design, technology enabled clues and games and one more challenging puzzle per game. In the lobby, they have a cool machine that takes your picture with a border.
If you are new to escape rooms, it's like a 3D puzzle, with many different types of puzzles. Definitely tell your gamemaster that it is your first game. That will help them tailor the clues. The game master will also sometimes offer nudges if you don't know what to do next or are going in the wrong direction. So if you like mysteries, cross-word puzzles, Sudoku, riddles, word games, etc.. these are for you. The first part of any escape room is usually a seek-n-find. Communication while you are in the room is very, very, very important. Sometimes letting your team members know that you found a place for a key just to find out they found a key (for example). Make sure to look at the escape rates of the rooms. Again, the game masters will usually accommodate if you let them know ahead of time. Happy gaming!! A great activity for families with teens.

Amazing!!!!
Dec 2019
We’ve gone twice. The first time we went with all my siblings & their Significant others for a “Sibling game night”. We did the hidden Temple room. It was so much fun. There were 7 of us in the room so we were a little cramped in the beginning when we were trying to get out of the 1st room but then we were able to spread out. It was amazing. Room after room. So much to do and see. We loved it. We were able to make it out of the Hidden temple with 5 mins. Left. Loved it so much we had to go again with our kids.

We did the mystery manor with our 3 kids (17,15,&8). They loved it. Because we had an 8 year old we were able to have to room to ourselves and not have to buy all the tickets. We were able to get out of that room too with 8 mins left.

I can’t wait to go back and do another one... we really love going and we hope to try them all. They are so well done and so fun!

We've been to quite a few escape rooms from Vegas to Chicago, from start ups to franchises. This was the first one where we're all felt the facility was really rooting against you. We've done harder ones and have enjoyed those a great deal more. Bottom line is that unlike all the other facilities, this just wasn't fun or enjoyable. Nothing against the staff, it just wasn't a good experience.

Exceeded our expectations!
Sep 2019
Our group included seasoned escape room veterans and newbies. We didn't know what to expect from 60 to escape, especially because it looks smaller from the outside of the store front and because of it's location across the food court of the mall.

Checking in was quick and easy. Our game master and the staff there were all really professional and friendly. Our group did the Mystery Manor game. The lighting, sounds, and effects of the game were very high quality - which we did not expect. It really enhanced the gaming experience. We were struggling to read clues in the dark or in dim lighting but it was all part of the challenge. The setting was very creepy and they did a great job. The further we got into the game, the more complex the puzzles were. I liked that there were different varieties of things to solve. (We've seen our share of really good escape rooms and some really bad ones where the entire room consisted of padlock after keylock after numerical locks. Those are terrible.) We had 6 clues total, 1 every 10 minutes. There is an option to purchase unlimited clues for an extra fee. We ended up using most of our 6 clues with 14 minutes to spare. It was a great experience, very well put together and decorated for one of the most unique game plays. We definitely plan to come back!

Super Fun
Aug 2019 • Friends
Wasn't expecting this much fun or challenge, and it was great! Not scary at all, you aren't really locked in a room. Clues, if you want them. Lots of surprises. So fun, can't wait to go back. Best in groups of 4-6, as it seems more would make it a little crowded.

Fun Escape Room
Jul 2019 • Friends
We decided to do the Temple escape room after getting a positive review from a co-worker. It was her first escape room but ours 5th/6th so I took her recommendation with a grain of salt. I shouldn't have - it was a wonderful experience. The room was decorated beautifully to match the temple theme. The different puzzles were fun and solvable (not easy), and we were given the option to request up to 6 clues ( we used 2) You could even pay extra ahead of time if you think you need more clues. This room had a 30% solve rate and we were lucky to be able to escape with 3 minutes left. My only complaint besides the cost (it was the most expensive escape room we visited) was how dim the room was. I realized they kept it darker to match the theme, but the two lanterns they gave didn't throw off much light making it difficult to read the clues. My family really enjoyed ourselves and probably will go back to escape one of the other rooms offered.
