Bagus Lesmana was our tour guide on our 10-day-trip in North Sulawesi.
He organized the route and the accomodations individually for us and according to our wishes (Manado - Tomohon - Tangkoko - Bunaken - Manado). We had a lot of fun together since Bagus has a great sense of humor. At the same time he took care of all the details of our tour in a very reliable and responsible way. He was always happy to share his profund knowledge about culture, nature and many other topics concerning Sulawesi.
Especially as a diving guide he introduced us to the fascinating underwater life in Bunaken and Manado Bay and shared his enthusiasm for marine wildlife. We had a great time and we surely would recommend Bagus to anyone who is looking for a tour guide in North Sulawesi.

We toured Tangkoko National Park with Julian in March 2020. We arrived the evening before our tour and an excellent driver, Stefie, met us at the airport. Our Hilltop Stay Home was very clean and comfortable, especially with AC. We set out at 6am with Julian who is an excellent spotter. It seems other guides are asking him where we’ve found wildlife. Our tour started nearly immediately with a troop of about 40 Black Crested Macaques. We saw interesting displays/behaviors, one in the forest actually went after John but Julian stepped in and it moved away quickly. We walked up the hill to see the Knobbed Hornbill which sounds like a quiet helicopter in flight. They are huge—nearly a meter! In the woods we encountered a less tame troop of Black Macaques that avoided us. We saw the Blue-headed Kingfisher, the Ring Roller Kingfisher and the Ruddy Kingfisher. We saw an owl. The three Cuscus were enormous that Julian pointed out high in the trees! At the end of our walk, we walked out to a beautiful black sand beach where a white butterfly captured our imagine. Julian is well organized, we emailed frequently before our trip since with the coronavirus we were uncertain of our travel plans. He has very good English, and so did our driver.

Bagus and Eddie are fun, friendly, flexible and professional. They brought us to many fantastic snorkelling spots and the trekking in jungle was educative.

Bagus Lesmana is able to do anything you want. He can dive with you as well as organize overland tour in Minahasa. We spent with him a few days. Very cheerful and sunny person! Do not look for anything else and anybody else if you plan to go to Manado. Just call Bagus Lesmana....(or write)

I choose this tour because of the positive reviews online and the website with an itinerary for snorkeling. It was excellent. We choose to add on the dolphin tour and my kids loved it. I was traveling with a 7 and 10 year old and seeing the dolphins was the highlight of their trip. Bagus was our guide. He picked us up at the hotel promptly and brought someone to help with the kids in the water. We had 5 in our group and they brought a boat big enough for the kids to run around and jump off the top. He brought us to three dive sites. Every site was wonderful the best snorkeling we have ever done by far!! Muka kampung, Lekuan and somewhere on the east side. He was very friendly, patient and informative. He spoke English well. We saw thousands of fish, hundreds of varieties of fish and at least 20 large sea turtles. Next time we will do e with Bagus and let the kids go snorkeling. The tour included a great fish lunch on the beach. We got back around 4 to our hotel.

We did the minahasa tour with Bagus. He is a nice and correct guide. He has a good dose of humour. Nothing was too much for him! Everything was organized as agreed

We had 3 extra days in Manado and we search the web for a good tour guide. That's how we found Matahatikita Tours. Bagus was FABULOUS!!!! Always with a smile and ready to take you all around, we saw beautiful places, small villages, hidden waterfalls, jungle with lots of monkeys, hot springs. Every day a new adventure!

I found Matahatikita Tours through tripadvisor. What attracted me was their ability to provide personalized tours. There were other tour companies that also have high ratings, but I did not want to sit on bus tours with lots of people and follow a rigid itinerary. I want to be able to talk to the local tour guide who can tell me information about the area, the people and the culture during our drive from one place to another. I also requested to get Bagus Lesmana since previous reviews mentioned that he is fluent in English.
Mr. Bagus picked us up at our hotel and we went to see many places throughout the day. It turns out that he is also a scuba diver, a passionate one. We spent most of the morning, talking about diving venues he recommended going to, in Indonesia and around Manado. My husband and I feel at ease talking to him and we really enjoyed our day with Bagus, doing the Minahasa Highland Tour. He is funny, knows his way around the area and great to tour with. He would points out details of the different places that we visited, that we would not have known (even if we were to read a guide book). Tour also includes lunch at a restaurant by Lake Tondano and it was delicious! Highly recommended!!

Got in touch with Mr. Bagus Lesmana in late fall 2015, as a result of stellar reviews on Trip Advisor (not sure where all the reviews went!?) to inquire about a full day private tour. We confirmed and Bagus reached out to us a week before our departure to reconfirm pick up time and location.
He arrived early and off we went on a full day adventure. He was great, knowledgeable and so much fun to tour with. An excellent command of the English language Bagus had us laughing, smiling and experiencing all sorts of Indonesian delicacies road side, at the market and our lunch stop. The scenery was spectacular and the personal touches welcome. The connections he has made with the mountain residents added to our day and this is one experience we will not soon forget!
Thank you Bagus and we hope to return and go diving with you! We can only imagine how amazing THAT experience would be!

We did a honeymoon with my wife in Indonesia, especially Sulawesi or we visited Manado, the dive site in Bunaken.
This trip was organized by Mr. Bagus Lesmana very specialist regarding scuba diving
We stayed in a cottage at the seashore, run by a very friendly family.
There are many snorkelling spots around the island, sublime funds to 1 or 2 m deep, with fabulous corals, fish, turtles and an underwater cliff.
We went snorkeling from 50 cm, it is accessible to the beach and where the funds are superb and a variety of exotic fish, a few boat rides.
Scuba diving is a specialty of Bagus and visiting volcanoes on the island.
After we went to Tangkoko park, there it is fabulous, rustic but beautiful atmosphere, we
could see monkeys.
Another big thank you to Mr Bagus Lesmana and his team for their professionalism, quality of services offered, I highly recommend this trip for future people looking for adventure.
