We found this tour to be very informative and not just about the major tourist areas. Johnny added lots of local flavor to the tour. I want to compliment him as it was late in the day and we were the only ones on the bus. But it didn't seem to bother him and that was nice. We received a discount coupon at the Visitor's Center to use toward our tour. After taking the tour, it was fun to go back over some of the streets taken by the trolley and remember what all we were told. Boy, these drivers are amazing...many tight spots handled expertly. Also loved the Gateway to History shop and personnel where we checked in. Great souvenirs and Chuckles!!…

I was so upset with the tour guide, I asked for my money back. He voiced his political views throughout the tour and we had to ask him to stop. I corrected him on one point - and he basically told me I lied. I told him to look it up - It was an area that I am very familiar with - international tax laws. His political viewpoints were given all the time. He even had the nerve to disparage President Lincoln which was the final straw for us. It ruined my day,…

The tour is informative and our tour guide Johnny was a combination of educator and entertainer. The history in Galena is remarkable and Johnny does a great job of relating it. There was another trolley company that we almost booked with which is right around the corner. We are glad that didn’t work out because I don’t believe they could possibly be better. …

We rode the trolley for the luminaria night 2018. When we got on the trolley, the driver didn’t greet us, nor did he say a word to all the passengers before beginning the route. There were some neat views of the lights, not that the driver pointed them out; he didn’t say a word to the passengers during the ride. There was no holiday music, either. We didn’t expect a full tour, but a little orientation and some good cheer would’ve gone a long way. After a few other passengers got off to walk back down to town, presumably out of the same dissatisfaction and boredom we experienced, we also opted to get off and walk down the stairs. We walked back by the place we’d bought the tickets—they are a vendor and not the owner—and we’re told we weren’t the only people who had complained. I also called the company to share our experience and they made no offer to make up for it and offered a weak apology. Save your dollars and do your own driving tour to see the lights from a distance, or just walk around. Overall, it was like riding a city bus, and maybe even more underwhelming and less friendly.…

This is a tour that doesn't have stops but is a great way to orient yourself to Galena. Even on a cold and rainy day it was quite enjoyable because it was warm and the driver gave a fascinating talk.
