My boyfriend and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time on this river cruise. Captain Bob and Karla are very knowledgeable about the area. If you are looking for a relaxing and informative experience this is a great trip.

Captain Bob and Karla piloted a lovely, peaceful yet exciting 1 and 1/2 hour cruise on July 9 starting at 10:30. My son and I liked it very much. Both of the guides obviously love the river and wildlife as well as being enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the river's history. We saw eagles, beaver dams, a small boat pushing 15 empty barges up river to pick up grain/corn from last year's crops to make way for this year's and heard many interesting facts and stories. Be aware that you must allow time to reach the river cruise from Chestnut Mountain Resort. Perhaps the web site makes you aware of that but I made reservations by phone and did not understand that we either had to take a chair lift (very exciting, but high up there and could be a little scary) or have a resort shuttle take us down to the river. The chair lift took ca. 15 mins., the shuttle would take longer.…

Not what I expected as the ride was an old pontoon with limited views in the covered part unless you stood up and faced the outside of the boat. Reason being, the bench seats face the inside of the boat. If you're lucky enough to grab a spot on the back of the boat or the very front you'll be okay because it's open. Captain Bob and his apprentice were very, very nice. They did have some interesting things to say but it was hard to hear them. The part of the river toured really has nothing to see except turtles, beaver lodges, birds, trees and water. Not to say nature is "nothing" but it was nothing most of us hadn't seen anywhere else. The tour itself was boring and too long at an hour and a half but luckily, we went out in a beautiful sunny day and were able to relax and take in the sun. However, I could have done that elsewhere for free. $30 is too much for this tour; $10 is about all it's worth, $15 max. The best part of the whole thing is the ride down the slide to get to the river and the ski lift back up. …

I hate to give a review with only 2 stars, but I'm just not sure why anyone would pay for this. You ride on a pontoon boat and a guy tells you the few things he knows about the area for 1 1/2 hours. I think everyone had more fun on the alpine slide down the hill to get to the boat and the ride back up. Don't waste your money.…
