Pricing was about expected for a trail ride. Booking and paying online was easy. Printed the waiver and brought it in. We arrived 15 min early as requested, but no one was in the office. Had to ask someone to get a worker, and someone finally came in 5 min after or scheduled time. A little annoying, but the rest of the trail ride was great, so water under the bridge. Brandi and Bethany helped us on our horses (Pengo and Spartan) and gave us a quick run down of how to guide the horses. The horses were very easy to ride, each with their own amusing personalities. Our trail guide was friendly, answered any questions we had (we were the only riders), and pointed out a few of the other resident horses and little tid bits about them. Also gave us some space to really just enjoy the ride, which was perfect. The trail itself was a basic trail that traversed the Galena territory, went by some houses, up and down some gentle hills. We got back after an hour and they took some photos for us. All in all, it was a great ride and we wouldn't hesitate to come back in the future.

We had a great ride on 10/24. We were originally scheduled to ride on 10/23, but the rain forced them to cancel. We received a phone call offering a different experience, but we were only a few minutes away so we stopped in to check it out. The staff explained our options and somehow squeezed us in for a trail ride the following day. My wife had never ridden before, and I was so glad we chose the trail ride. She was so happy with the trail ride. I am sure we will be back! Only wish we had a chance to let our horses run just a little!!!

Despite having signs all over about Covid safe practices, not a single individual working at the facility practiced them. We arrived wearing masks and there was another family wearing them while we were there, but not a single individual working there wore one or observed distancing. I asked the woman leading my child’s horse if she could wear one as it would be impossible to lead my 2 year old at a distance and I was told with a high degree of annoyance that she didn’t have one. There was no instruction or checking to ensure our first time riders were safe or comfortable throughout the ride. During our stay in Galena we were very impressed with everyone’s willingness to keep others safe, but Shenandoah was a huge exception. I would not recommend anyone going here if they are trying to be safe themselves.

We did the trail ride and was a great time. It is an excellent way to get introduced to horseback riding. The folks at the site were great and make sure you have a wonderful riding experience.
