This garden tour is well worth the time & money. The gardens are in the middle of town and you wouldn't even think you were in town. We were there at the end of September and a lot of the plants weren't in bloom but I'm sure the gardens are spectacular during the summer season. Highly recommend this if you... More

This privately owned and privately maintained garden is one three-acre surprise located just up the hill from the Galena Public Library at the south end of Prospect Street. It's a little confusing as to what is private or public up there, but there is signage to assist you. There are two private residences within the garden, and a couple of... More

Not a good time to go...the flowers weren't in bloom and the gardens looked very neglected. The guide was sweet but it was not worth the $10 per person price.

This walking tour was guided by a delightful, 86-year-old man who, with his long-time partner, owns the property and adjacent house. He shared information, stories, and historical facts. The natural garden included waterfalls, sculptures, gazebos, and lovely perennials and annuals along the hour-long walk in the little known heavily wooded garden perched above Galena's downtown. Peaceful, and beautiful, it was... More

A beautiful, restful garden to learn about. Basically built on a desolate limestone place, it is growing with plants of all kinds not.

What a delight to walk with our guide on this one hour tour of the gardens. This is a lovely way to spend a bit of your day. The gentleman who conceived of this place has created a true labor of love.

We called ahead to find out the ticket price, which was a trash in itself, as the gentleman said he didn't understand what we were asking, and also told us he would be closed for the season after the upcoming weekend. Then, when we went the next day, we couldn't find anyone, so we called the number only to have... More
