Been going here for over a decade. I feel like a kid when I'm here because of all the nostalgic candy they keep in stock. The ladies who work here are very friendly and always smiling and willing to help. I always return whenever I'm in Galena.

Lots of candy, but we come here for the jigsaw puzzles! Great selection of both! Due to Covid, you cannot self-serve from the candy jars, but they still have everything available. You just ask a staff member and they will fill your bag for you. Also a nice selection of chocolates and novelty items.

This may have been my kids favorite stop along Main Street! Kandy Kitchen has so many candy options, available by piece or per pound, there's something for everyone! Gummy candy, Jelly Belly beans, chocolate, caramel apples, fudge, hard candies and novelty candy I haven't seen in years! (Candy cigarettes)

There are more than a few candy stores on Galena's Main Street. But Kandy Kitchen stands out because it treats adults and children alike with tantalizing favorites such as taffy, English toffee, candy sticks, salted caramels, hand-dipped chocolates, fudge, caramel apples, pecan Georgies and pecan clusters. George Paxton founded Kandy Kitchen on a dream. After visiting Galena in 1973, he fell in love with the area. He left his computer business in Chicago and opened his confectionary at 100 North Main Street in 1974. He learned the candy business from his father, who began his candy-making career at the turn of the century and is credited with inventing the "Chuckles" candy in the mid-1930s. His son has carried on the family tradition. What makes Kandy Kitchen stand out? It's the process. They begin by weighing the finest basic ingredients, including fresh cream and butter, in large copper kettles. The batch is cooked to a specified temperature and hand processed to form individual pieces. Each piece is hand dipped with a heavy coating of pure milk or semi-sweet chocolate. The store also stocks old-fashioned bulk candy displayed in wooden barrels. You can't walk into the sweet-smelling store without leaving without a bag or two of chocolates and candy.

With more than one candy shop on the street, its sometimes hard to tell the difference. But this candy kitchen has something for both the adults--think english toffee and salted caramels, and for the kids--like candy sticks and taffy. Fresh impressive selection, not overpriced and underwhelming with dry old chocolates--like some of the other shops. THIS PLACE is the REAL DEAL. Look no further for a sweet treat, or a take home gift. Put this place on your list...

Bought some candy there today, paid $4.75 for a little bag but it’s not something I find everyday so I was ok with it. Until... I took a piece out when we got to the car and there were several long hairs hanging out of it, clearly stuck in the chocolate before it cooled. I was not given a receipt when I made my purchase, and paid cash so I guess I’m just going to be out of luck. I definitely wouldn’t want a replacement anyway! Not someplace I would recommend.

Nothing spectacular here. Old fashioned candy but just like any tourist town that has a candy store. Got a few items but if short on time skip this one.

Their homemade fudge is the best around. So many delicious choices, but they encourage you to pick and choose according to your taste. Their hand dipped candies are also amazing. You can also choose from a huge assortment of candies in old fashioned jars - scoop a little or scoop a lot and pay by the pound. Be prepared to indulge your sweet tooth!

This is a lovely candy store complete with their own signature chocolate, Georgies ( think turtle). We always stop for a jumbo pecan and cashew georgie along with a pogo stick. (Pretzel rod covered in caramel, pecans and dipped in a thick coating of chocolate). Yum!

Nothing says "you're special" but a box of assorted chocolates or assorted creams or caramels or English toffee or fudge or Divinity or peanut brittle. Since 1974, Galena's Kandy Kitchen has been producing fresh, home-made candy made from the family's old-fashioned candy formulas. They offer special treats for special occasions...anniversaries, birthdays, graduations. Located at 100 North Main Street, Galena's Kandy Kitchen is open daily from 10 to 5. Other tasty items include double dipped peanuts, Kandy Kitchen mix, jumbo Georgies, black taffy, caramel apples, gummi bears, jelly bellys, assorted saltwater taffy, sugar free chocolates, pogo sticks, triple dipped malted milk balls, old-fashioned caramel corn, pecan logs, peanut butter cups, pecan Georgies, orange slices, spice drops, raspberries, chuckles, licorice, cheese corn, nonparils, chocolate panned raisins and marshmallow delights. The business is run by George Paxton, whose father Bill was an accomplished candy maker who invented the popular "chuckles" candy in the mid-1930s. Talk about nostalgia. Galena's Kandy Kitchen offers the kind of candy I couldn't resist when I was growing up. And still can't.
