This attraction is apparently located on "private property" even thought it's literally 50 yards from the road. The people who own it are so petty that they hire a rude security guard to come in and kick people off the property! And not because anyone is being rowdy, just walking up to it is off-limits. What is wrong with these people! God forbid someone stop for 5 minutes and take a photo. Don't waste your time driving an hour to see this, because you won't be allowed to!

This is a nice little waterfall, but is evidently on private property and the owners or whomever takes care of the property has a security guard to come kick people out. This is absolutely not worth the time because you will be very very rudely kicked off the property. We were unfamiliar with the area as we are tourists. It’s not like my family and I were purposefully going on this property other than to snap a couple pictures of a waterfall. The area is not guarded, and the sign is not easy to visualize from the location on the road and where you turn into the driveway. This was just very disappointing, it was an honest mistake that my family and I didn’t see the sign that states it’s only for visitors with passes to the Galena Territory. We were not rude, we were not loud, and we were not disrupting anyone. Wish I could give this 0 stars.

Galena is quiet and filled with bird sounds so finding these falls was a nice auditory change of pace. It's easy to get to from town and while signs do say "guests only" (as indicated by other reviewers) we're not sure what that means since you can drive right up to them. We parked and walked down a short path (2 actually) and just stood there enjoying the beauty of the falls and watching the swallows whip around and alight on the fence to feel the water's spray. A lovely break on a hot day. Worth a trip and look.

Pretty drive by but sign indicates only those with passes (guests etc) are allowed on the property. Path to falls was not clean. Security was sitting in a near by lot so we didn't leave our car. Not sure who the falls is associated with. Saw a field with over 50 wild turkeys nearby which was pretty neat.

Thunder bay falls is a small spot kinda secludedm it is very tranquil and small. Would recommend to check out if in area. Just watch out for the road it is not pavement but grovel and alot of curves.
Good place to talk and just enjoy nature and possibly fish.

I found this on trip advisor as wasn't advertised in Galena tour guide book. A little tricky to find, but what a gem. I never thought I'd see a waterfall here in Galena. It's so pretty and easy to access. You get up front and personal and can take lots of photos.

The falls were an unexpected treat while staying in Galena for a couple of days. They are not far from town and you really don't even have to get out of your car to see them. Course it'd been raining a lot so they were really pretty.

The falls we flowing and were a nice little stop. It is a very short walk from the parking lot to the falls. If you are stopping here and trying to look things up for your next stop just know there is no interest service (or at least we didn't have any). Kids had fun watching the fish swim in the water. We stayed maybe a total of 5 minutes.

We drove out here on our recent trip to Galena, Illinois. When we arrived there is a sign on the parking lot stating "members and guests only". What? How ridiculous! I made a quick stop to look at the falls, which are beautiful. Don't plan to spend a long time due to the member's only nature of this attraction.
I would easily have rated this higher were it not for the restricted access.
As a side note, there are not picnic tables, benches, restrooms, or trash cans.

I can’t really understand why this is a place to visit. It is located on private property and the only place to park is minimal alongside the road, which was somewhat dangerous. Nearby was a large sign which clearly stated that there was no trespassing as well as no parking except for resort patrons. You can view it from the public road and hopefully you won’t get run over.

Sorry for delay! Did you visit?? I would say it was accessible. Sorry again for not responding sooner!

I do not believe so. I would hate to mislead you as we were the only two people there the day we visited - - we parked and walked right onto the viewing platform without any issues or anyone questioning us. If it is for some odd reason, It is still fully viewable from the public road with a small area big enough to park a car and enjoy the view.
