Nordens Ark was above our expectations.
The park was much larger than we were expecting and there were plenty of playareas around the park so our 3 year old was well entertained.
We saw most of the animals in the larger enclosures, which were fabulous. All the big cats had large enclosures which really took advantage of the varying terrain.
We ate at the restaurant after our visit and the food was topnotch.

This beautiful zoo/animal park is largely situated on a foresty hill.
They have a range of big and small cats, some canids, different kinds of hoofstock, some birds and reptiles/amphibians, red Pandas, Otters and wolverines.
Most of the enclosures are really great concerning space and structure. Some habitats are even spectacularly big and very unique; amurtiger, persian and snowleopard, wolverine and wolf.
What really made my day, they have my favourite animal which you rarely ever see in zoos: the mighty pallas cat!
There's a hotel and restaurant right at the entrance and during high season the've got several small places throughout the park where you can grab something.
The park is open all year round.

Dear Travelers.
If you take a trip by car along the westcoast of Sweden make a stopover here.

This "zoo" is much more then just that, i principle all their animals are endangered species. They work actively with conservation globally.

There are in principle two sections Domestic and Wild, the total span is from Snowleopards to rare swedish chickenbreeds.

There is a Hotel on the premises which gives you access to to the facilities "off hours"
A good restautrant is by the hotel and in summer also local fastfood in the park.
I would advice a visit a weekday during winter when the visitors are less. Stay overnight and enjoy!

This is one of the most enjoyable ways for a family of any agemix to support animal and environment conservation

If you want to pay full price for a Long walk in the Woods, this place is perfect.
No animales in sigth. Nearly no WC stops, we saw a poor litle girl pee herself... And no map, to guide us...

We will take a free walk in the regular Woods netxt time, the odds for us to see wild animales there are defenetly higher.

We were there with 3 children aged 6-12 and saw snow leopards and lots of other animals that seemed to live in good environments.

There are picnic tables scattered all around the park, great walkways and the trees give shelter from the sun. The app gave good information about the animals and where to look for them in the cages.

I can highly recommend visiting Nordens Ark. It works great also during Corona period since it’s easy to keep a good distance.

Nice to see some animals that are not generally seen. Location is somewhat hilly, but there are good ramps for strollers and wheelchairs. Nice family outing.

We visited right at the end of the summer season so it was not very crowded -Perfect for us! At the park you can see a wide range of animals (birds, insects & mammals) in enclosures. They have restaurants and picnic areas too. You download an app for guidance (saving paper!). There are some play areas around the park too for smaller kids. The animals seem happy enough and it is great to read about the conservative programmes the park is part of. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a daycare by the farm -How wonderful for the kids to have the animals so close by on a daily basis!

The park is well worth a visit -Bring your picnic and eat right by the tigers!

This is an perfekt park to have a nice walk in, and see some Red Listed animals. Hope that we save them for the next coming generations.

I had been meaning to visit Nordens Ark for a few years after hearing good reports from many fellow zoo keepers so I had high expectations upon arrival.

Situated along Abyfjorden, approximately one & a half hours drive north of Gothenburg, Nordens Ark is surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife. I have visited many zoos/bioparcs/wildlife parks now but Nordens Ark has surpassed all of my previous favourites and, for me, is up there with Singapore in my impressions.

I love the fact that, bar a couple of exotic species, they almost exclusively house species that are adapted to the Swedish climate. The steep crags, scattered with spruces are perfect for the Snow Leopards, Persian Leopards and Amur Tigers that reside there. The Snow Leopard, Pallas Cat, Amur Tiger and Wolf enclosures are some of the best I've seen.....it's brilliant how the visitors have a high platform to view from but the animals always have somewhere higher to go, meaning they do not feel intimidated or uncomfortable.

I also love the in-situ work that they do with domestic Swedish species such as the Wolverine, Peregrine Falcon and Greater Capricorn Beetle. Far too often I find that Zoos carry out some good conservation work on a global scale yet they seem to pay little or no attention to their native species. Well done Nordens Ark!

There is also a very nice hiking trail outside of the park which is well worth the 1-2 hour trek. The viewpoint overlooking the fjord is particularly nice.

If you ever happen to be in Gothenburg or the surrounding area and have a day to spare, I urge you to visit Nordens Ark and see what a proper wild animal park is like.

It was a very nice Zoo.
It was nice since it isnt the traditional Zoo where you feel almost as if you are on a circus.

The animal enclosures or paddocks was around, and in the terrain instead of sculpting the terrain after the animals.

Fun to see different kinds of animals, and not the classic, lion, giraffe and elephants.

It was various arctic goats, cats, wolves and other animals found in the northern hemisphere.

Especially the Pallas' cat was very funny to see, extremely odd, little cat.

All in all a fun experience, and not necessarily getting the feeling of animals suffering.
