I love this pub and always take visiting friends there, after we tackle the hill up to Heptonstall. The staff are so lovely and welcoming, the drink selection is awesome (oh so many gins!) and they are dog friendly :)

After our walk from Hebden Bridge to Heptonstall we needed a stop to refuel. The White Lion was very welcome. We had the ploughman’s which was very tasty. Dog made very welcome, fresh bowl of water provided. Beer very good to!

Such good food. The veggie dishes were incredible and there was a good choice. Have been here 3 times in last 4 years and every meal has been very good. Worth the walk up the hill

I have to say that the people who own/run the place are pleasant. But when it comes to food I'm sure that most of the money made is from the beer sold because the food is nothing to write home about in fact I would...More

OMG If your visiting this lovely town. Please stay out of here. Staff sat at the bar, beer in hand. Beers running off 1 by 1. Not for tourists. NEVER AGAIN. NOT WORTH THE RATING. - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Minus)More

3 beers of your choice, 1/3 pint of each in diddy straight glasses, all characterful and well kept. Plus a real fire and a Tuesday evening folk convention (fiddles, flute, accordion, bodhran, twangolele). Resistance is futile!

Stopped off after walk round church and Hell Hole Rocks. Pint of Peroni and Bacon Fries were much needed. Not much to say really other than traditional pub. Was quiet Friday afternoon so not much going on really. Good songs on in the background.

Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome here an in many other pubs. There is a coffee shop down in Hebden Bridge, called "The Lamppost" which caters especially for dogs and their owners.
