Favorite Illinois Park

I love Kennekuk County Park because it has so many lakes. It is really peaceful here and not full of people. Lots of fields and a private town and dining train car to explore.

well maintained park
Jul 2019
Great for families, walking dogs, enjoying nature, family picnics, corporate picnics, weddings, what have you. Just a nice place all around for the most part. While it's well kept by the keepers of the park, some of the idiots who visit feel the need to toss their trash and beer cans on the ground...because you know, intellect is hard to come by with some people.

State Certified Herb Garden
Jun 2019 • Friends
The Bunker Hill Herb Garden, maintained in part by a group of Vermilion County Master Gardeners, is a hidden jewel. Pathways made from bricks from local bygone brickyards provide a handicapped accessible walkway. Different themed garden beds feature plants and herbs used by Native Americans or plants mentioned in the Bible. Visitors are able to taste, smell, or snip a few herbs to take home to use in their own kitchens. Well worth the visit during the summer months.

A step back in time.

Not only is the park beautiful and peaceful and great for a hike or picnic but they have a small village set up of stores a church a school home and gardens and walkways. It really is fun to visit for all ages and takes you back in time when things were more simple. And best of all it’s free. The exteriors and exteriors are charming. They also have a barn and a train car and a few other surprises.

Big and beautiful
Sep 2018 • Business
From hiking trails and picnic groves, 1800's farm town, fishing ponds, and large lake this park has something for everyone. Very nice outdoor educational center and very nice visitor center contains much information on the area. I enjoyed this more than the nearby Kickapoo State park.

A well kept secret. Great park. Good trails. Nice shelters. Village is neat. The old church is the perfect place for a wedding. A lot of wild life to watch and the educational center is very nice. Glad it’s in our community
