Millennium Monument Peristyle, made of limestone, opened at Wrigley Square in 2002. Given as a gift to Millennium Park by the William Wrigley Jr. Company, Millennium Monument is a tribute to the Founders of Millennium Park, whose names are inscribed on the pedestal of the Monument.

At the bottom of the Monument there's the Fountain, which is an attraction in itself, so modest looking, and at the same time so complementary to the whole architectural ensemble, including a large lawn in front of the Monument.

Traditionally, there are arts and crafts shows, arts exhibits, various festivals and other cultural events, held at Wrigley Square.

Visitors usually like to walk around the lawn and take photos of Millennium Monument, the Fountain, and some spectacular skyline views of this gorgeous city. This whole area has very tranquil, peaceful and quietly picturesque looks about it. I always enjoy visiting this beautiful part of Millennium Park!

Inside Millennium Park, this monument is lovely to see which different architectural features. The fountain looked well maintained, and the whole monument was beautifully white. It was nice to sit and enjoy the space.

We visited this part of the Millennium Park two weeks ago, during the Chicago Jazz Festival. The park became a generous host to a big party of thousands of people enjoying great music at its various venues.

As a part of the Millennium Park, Wrigley Square was also an active participant of the Festival: there was Arts & Crafts exhibit/market there, vendors and artists from all over the country put their imaginative creations on display (and for sale) around the big lawn, that is in the very center of Wrigley Square.

At the back of the square you can see an unusually classic composition. It is 'unusually classic' in relation to Millennium Park as a whole, where most of the buildings and structures, pavilions and concert halls, monuments and fountains generally have a very striking, ultra-modern design and new-era looks. So at the back of Wrigley Square you can see this classic monument that is now called the Millennium Monument. Given to the park as a gift by William Wrigley Jr Company in 2002, it opened to public in its present form as a semi-circle of 24-column peristyle, and it's a tribute to Mr Wrigley Jr and all the Founders of Millennium Park. I am amazed how much is being done by the Chicago donors for this beautiful city!

The Fountain, quite modest-looking, sits at the bottom of the Monument, and even during that very busy-noisy, loud jazzy day it still preserved its peaceful, unpretentious looks.

It was very pleasant to visit Wrigley Square in the evening and to take some pictures of this quiet, but beautiful part of the Millennium Park.

The park has a futuristic amphitheater, a futuristic fountain and a reflective piece of artwork. All of those are very modern and interactive. And then there is the Millennium Monument. This would fit in better at the National Mall in DC where large and imposing monuments are the motif.

The monument is an amazing piece of work, but it simply doesn't fit in with the rest of the park.

The Millennium Monument in Wrigley Square is simply gorgeous. I walked by it several times, and it looks even better at night - don't miss out.

After enjoying the Park, it was pleasant to know that part of it was dedicated to the promoters of the Park.

Don't get me wrong, it is a nice monument; however it is rather dull in the winter. However in the summer the fountain is running and that in itself makes it worth going to.

There are a handful of monuments and landmark features of Millennium Park including the Millennium Monument at the northwest corner - N Michigan Ave. and E Randolph St. intersection. What you will see is a semi-circular row of Doric style columns around 12 metres tall and made of Indiana limestone.

At the base of the peristyle are the engraved names of the 122 founders of Millennium Park. There is a fountain pool and lawn in front of the in front to provide depth and scope as you approach. It is a nice classical style monument and tribute to the Park Founders, worth spending a few minutes to enjoy when passing by.
