If you want to get a feel for quintessential South Side Chicago, you have to make a stop in Hyde Park, one of the city’s most popular neighborhoods. This historic area is home to two of the city’s most prominent cultural institutions, the Museum of Science and Industry and the University of Chicago. A stroll here will bring you past vintage and grand hotels converted into luxury apartment buildings; peaceful gardens, parks and green spaces; and ivy-adorned museums and other cultural institutions that speak to the city’s diversity and architectural beauty.

Wonderful community-run park with agility options, cooling pools and mist stations, and first aide! Plus the ability to section off half of the park if you have dogs with mismatched temperament. I have never been to a better dog park in the city of Chicago. Absolutely worth the trip to Hyde Park if you're not from the neighborhood

Excellent spot to sit back and let your dog play. Especially exciting for dogs who like to do agility stations (mine doesn't). Cons: there is no shade and the surface of the park is materials so no grassy options. Pro: there are places for humans to sit and watch and even a small library of books to look at while the pooch plays. Note well: be prepared for a walk since the park is a long way from available parking. Paid parking.

Amazing dog park! Very large, a lot of obstacles and toys for the dogs to play. Bags and water are there if needed. There are always other dogs there and the people that take care of the park iver there are truly wonderful and care deeply for dogs! I would recommend anyone who has a dog to go there! They even have 2 separate fenced areas (anti-social dogs/socialized dogs) and those fences are way up high and there is no escape from the bottom either which makes it the safest dog park I have seen!

Wiggly Field, Puptown, and Hamlin--you name it, we've been there, and while it's true that some have been better experiences than others, they've all shared one undesirable trait: they're immeasurably inconvenient, wedged at the far northern corners of the city, leaving us with no other options than to cut a nice fat slice of our weekends for a long trek for a half-hour of playtime for our pup...until now!

Jackson Bark, when we first heard of the new dog park/agility course at the southern edge of Hyde Park, seemed far too good to be true. 10 minutes from our apartment? Gasp! Full of well and lovingly constructed fun agility obstacles for all stages of interest? Really?! But it's true.

Since first finding out about Jackson Bark at the brink of spring, we've been taking Lily as frequently as we're able. This week, while some friends were away, we took their pooch as ours for a few days, and these two couldn't have a better Sunday afternoon getting into all sorts of fun with The Bark's obstacles and toys before enjoying a nice meander around Bobolink Meadows adjacent to the park.

Word is still steadily spreading around the neighborhood about the new pup paradise, but I give it no time at all before everyone you see, regardless of where you are in the city, is telling you about this perfectly appointed place. Convenience aside, Todd has truly crafted the ideal dog park right at home in the south side, and we could't be more grateful. Not only a place for dogs, Jackson Bark is yet another exemplum of the community-oriented growth our neighborhood has seen and more than any other dog park, I'd say this place is just as much as a meeting place for new friends as it is for the pups.

Dog parks everywhere would do well to take a tip or two for this gem of a spot. Thanks, Todd and Charlie, for all your efforts into growing a place we've truly come to love.

If you're looking for a place on the south side to take your dog, meet kind people and test your dog's agility - look no further. For some reason, dog friendly areas have not really made it to the south side of Chicago yet. This seemingly caused a dedicated dog lover to re-activate an abandoned tennis court and turn it into the best dog agility course in the city!

When you visit, you'll see there was no shortage of effort put into constructing the many obstacles, benches, holding areas and so on. There are poop bags (and scrapers), places to hang your leash, toys, fresh water/bowls and Lake Michigan views!

We parked at the south end of Bobolink Meadow near the driving range and walked the trail through beautiful Bobolink Meadow and then over to Jackson Bark.

This is truly a community asset and a great re-use of space and materials to make it all happen.

Here's hoping the south side continues to gain dog friendly areas, as it's clear there's a need!

Nice work Jackson Bark!

Wonderful place! finally we find a nice place for our dogs! The equipment inside is awesome for dog training and socializing! We should know that dogs are our family members, and they DO NOT want to be leashed all the time. They want to play freely and safely. Jackson Bark provides all my dog and I want. We have great time together with other pup families. I hope more and more families can join us!

GREAT DOG PARK! I can't thank the man that made this place a reality enough!!! Buddy Guy absolutely loves running, playing and socializing here. A much needed area for dogs on the South Side! Can't wait to see Jackson Bark grow with the pup families in the area!

This was such a diamond in the Ruff! Thanks to the volunteers that keep this fun packed dog park safe, entertaining for the dogs and their humans - even had a DJ with some great music for all to enjoy.

Was looking for a dog park that had structure, not the run-of-the-mill open area park. Well we found it. This dog park had fun obstacles for the dogs, safety items and lots of bags to help keep it clean.

A Must Go!
