Pricey Overview of Chicago

The Gray Line Tour does offer a good overview of Chicago. The combined North/South Loop tour will take about 4 hours and will cost around $50.00. I had hoped for a bit of... read more

Tour(s) conducted via bus.(not as pictured above). Morning tour and afternoon tour cover different sections of the city. We took both for the full experience and enjoyed it. Knowledgeable driver/tour guide able to describe the sights well.

Had a wonderful tour with Manny as our guide and Pat as our driver. Very informative tour, with great driving. Manny had humor, knowledge and was diverse in his stories. Not only architecture, but art, history and sports were included in his presentation. I had the Go pass and followed the directions, very easy to get my ticket and was... More

This tour is an option from the Chicago GO Card. We took the 2-hour Historic Chicago South Bus Tour. First off, we picked up our tickets at a table in the Gift Shop on the first floor of the Palmer House Hilton. It felt like some type of shady back room deal. When they were ready to load we had... We purchased a Go pass which included a hop on and hop off pass. We went to the designated spot and we were told the location did not have a scanning machine. We were then directed 8 blocks away that they assured us would have a scanning machine. It did not. We were told to go into th gray line... More

The Gray Line Tour does offer a good overview of Chicago. The combined North/South Loop tour will take about 4 hours and will cost around $50.00. I had hoped for a bit of historical information to be included in the tour, but heard mostly sports trivia from the tour guide. The bus driver was very good! Of all the Gray... More

I felt strongly disappointed by the Historic Chicago South Shore Tour. To start off with, the bus is old, smelly and stuffy. Secondly, the tour was around 30 min delayed because a passenger got stuck in traffic. I understand we are supposed to cooperate with our fellows, but holding around 30 passengers because one is late sounds weird to me.... More

We did the four hour tour on a dreary rainy day on April. Gray line picked us up at the hotel, was early, so were we. The pleasant trolley driver brought us to meet our tour bus, and we were all set. Many tours switch vehicles numerous times and are chaotic. Not Gray Line. They were organized, professional, yet approachable... More

We could not get anyone to answer the phone or emails to confirm our hotel pick-up after we purchased tickets online. Our concierge finally contacted them and the time was different than their website. The bus was late for our pick-up, even at their altered time. Once on the bus, the driver was blasting a religious radio broadcast. Very awkward.... More

I was in Chicago for four days and saw a groupon for the four hour tour and a ticket to the Chicago 360. I was very pleased of the tour, the driver was very knowledgeable about the city, he even sang some songs. I will have to say that I feel that the four hour tour was too long, after... More

We took thus tour of North & South Chicago including the John Hancock Observatory. The tour was extensive and our tour guide, Leon, was very knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour.

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
