My girlfriend and I have both lived in the city of Chicago for years and we’re introduced to many little gems on this food tour. Phyllis is knowledgeable about the food as well as the history of the neighborhoods. She was able to recommend additional foods to try at each place as well as other delicious restaurants in the area. There were only 4 of us on the tour, a wonderfully intimate experience. While the tour would be good for visitors to Chicago, we both really enjoyed the tour and learned even more about the city we call home. I would recommend the tour for everyone, even those who have lived in the City for a long time!

We have been on several food tours. This has been the least fun. It was just OK. They advertise as small groups of less than 12, we had 16 people. Tight spaces, hard to hear presentations and there was no real personal interaction with the leader of the tour. She clearly just wanted to get through the 3.5 hours. The idea of the location is great and we did learn about the neighborhoods. The food was good and more than enough. It makes sense to continue, but needs better implementation. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Unfortunately, the experience was overbooked this day due to a scheduling error. I'm so sorry this happened on the day of your tour, and I wish I could've given you the typical experience. Thank you for coming and for the review. Phyllis

I was in town visiting family as I grew in the suburbs of Chicago. If there’s a limit to saying “This is SO good!” I’m sure I exceeded it on the “Saigon to Stockholm” food walk. Our first stop was at Nha Hang Viet Nam on Argyle where we introduced ourselves before having plates of deliciousness delivered to our table. Phyllis thoughtfully explained every ingredient, from their flavors to their cultural significance. We wrapped our own summer rolls with herbs, sausage and noodles and followed it up with lotus root salad featuring sliced jumbo shrimp and pork. What a stellar start! We literally walked and ate our way through world history as Phyllis educated us on the landscape and evolution of Chicago neighborhoods. Let me just say this was the BEST experience and you must check it out when you’re in Chi-Town. It was a great value, too, considering the generous tastings and Phyllis’s expert level knowledge of Chicago. I have been recommending this tour to everyone since taking it earlier this month. If you’re reading this, read no further. Stop and book your spot(s). You’ll be so glad you did!
